188BET Offer – Liverpool v Man Utd

Liverpool and Manchester United meet for the first time in Europe tonight and 188BET are getting in on the action. If a red card is shown at any time during Liverpool v Manchester United, 188BET will refund losing First/Anytime Goalscorer, Correct Score, Double Result and Both Teams to Score bets as a free bet, up to a maximum of £188.00. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £165.21 and here’s how…

Qualifying Bet:

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.

There is no way of making this offer risk-free, so we need to place our qualifying bet at tight odds, in order to minimise our qualifying loss. It’s entirely up to you, what you place your qualifying bet on.

188BET ran this very same offer on Tottenham v Arsenal at the weekend. I noted in my blog post that ideally, we should place our qualifying bet at high odds, like a 0-0 draw at back odds of 14.00 and lay odds of 15.00, to give it the best chance of losing. The issue with that, was that with a back stake of £188.00, this would have required a float of almost £2,500 at Smarkets.

I therefore opted to place my qualifying bet on both teams to score at back odds of 1.66 and lay odds of 1.71, in the hope that someone kept a clean sheet. Arsenal had a man sent offer and the game finished 2-2, meaning I made a small loss. If I had gone with the 0-0 option, I’d have made a nice profit of over £160.00!

I’ve therefore decided this time, to go with the 0-0 option to maximise my chances of hitting the refund, but if you’re not comfortable with the stakes, feel free to take your chances on the both teams to score market.

I like to place my exchange lay bets with Smarkets as they have great liquidity, the site is really easy to use and they only charge 2% commission in comparison to the 5% charged by other betting exchanges.

We can calculate our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…

Place £188.00 on a 0-0 draw @ 8.70 = Potential profit of £1,447.60

smarkets whiteLay £178.17 on a 0-0 draw @ 9.20 = Potential liability of £1,460.99

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

0-0 draw + £1447.60 – £1460.99 = £13.39 loss
Not 0-0 and there’s a red card – £188.00 + £174.61 + £178.60 (extract 95% from our £188.00 stake refund) = £165.21 profit
Not 0-0 and there’s no red card – £188.00 + £174.61 = £13.39 loss

So, if the game doesn’t finish 0-0 and there’s a red card shown, we will make a huge profit of £165.21 on this 188BET offer. If there’s no red card or the game is drawn 0-0, we’ll have made a loss of £13.39. Risking £13.39 to make a profit of £165.21, gives us effective odds of 13.34, so given that the odds of a red card being shown are only 3.30, this is a very profitable offer in the long run.

Stake refunds just need rolling over once at minimum odds of 1.90 or greater before we are able to withdraw. The above calculations are therefore based on the assumption that, by using straightforward matched betting, we should be able to extract 95% cash from our £188.00 stake refund.

To claim our stake refund, we must email the promotion code ‘RED188’, our bet ID number and our 188BET member code to promo@188service.com using our registered email address by 23:59 (GMT) on Friday 11th March 2016. Free bets will be credited within 48 hours of a successful claim being submitted.
