Paddy Power Price Boost – Man City & Tottenham

The Premier League returns this afternoon and Paddy Power are running a price boost on the action. They’ve enhanced Tottenham and Manchester City both to win from 2/1 to a tasty 3/1! Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a risk-free potential profit of £17.53 and here’s how…

Price Boost Bet:

The maximum stake for this price boost is £20.00.

Place £20.00 on Man City & Tottenham @ 4.00 = Potential profit of £60.00

Match 1: Everton v Tottenham (Kick-Off: 15:00 on Saturday 13th August 2016)

I like to place my exchange lay bets with Smarkets as they have great liquidity, the site is really easy to use and they only charge 2% commission in comparison to the 5% charged by other betting exchanges.

On the first match, we need to cover our original stake of £20.00. If we divide £20.00 by 0.98 (to account for the 2% Smarkets commission), this gives us a lay stake of £20.41.

Lay £20.41 on Tottenham @ 2.42 = Potential liability of £28.98

If Tottenham win – £28.98 = – £28.98
If Tottenham don’t win – £20.00 + £20.00 = £0.00

So, if Tottenham don’t win, the offer will be over and we’ll have broken even. However, if Tottenham do win, we will have lost £28.98 so far.

Match 2: Man City v Sunderland (Kick-Off: 17:30 on Saturday 13th August 2016)

So, if Tottenham win, this means on the next match, we need to cover both the £28.98 loss from the first match plus the original stake of £20.00. If we divide £48.98 by 0.98 (to account for the 2% Smarkets commission), this gives us a lay stake of £49.98.

Lay £49.98 on Man City @ 1.27 = Potential liability of £13.49

If Man City win + £60.00 – £28.98 – £13.49 = £17.53 profit
If Man City don’t win – £20.00 – £28.98 + £48.98 = £0.00

So, if either team loses along the way, we’ll have broken even and there’s no harm done. However, if Tottenham and Man City both win, we’ll have made a nice risk-free profit of £17.53!

I’d like to point out that the above workings are based on the lay odds that were available at the time of writing. If the lay odds fluctuate before we are able to place our lay bets, this may result in us making more potential profit, less potential or even a slight loss, so please bear that in mind before deciding whether or not to do this offer.
