It’s Week 5 of the Champions League 2016/17 group stage and you don’t want to miss this Sun Bets offer! Simply place a pre-match First Goalscorer bet on any Champions League game televised on Sky or BT, and if our bet has lost by half-time, Sun Bets will refund our stake as a free bet up to £10.00. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us an overall potential profit of £12.00 and here’s how
Qualifying Bets:
This offer is available on all Champions League matches broadcast live on Sky or BT, but I’ll be sticking to the fixtures involving British clubs…
Fixture | Kick-Off | Date |
---|---|---|
Leicester v Club Brugge | 19:45 | Tuesday 22nd November 2016 |
Monaco v Tottenham | 19:45 | Tuesday 22nd November 2016 |
Arsenal v PSG | 19:45 | Wednesday 23rd November 2016 |
Monchengladbach v Man City | 19:45 | Wednesday 23rd November 2016 |
Celtic v Barcelona | 19:45 | Wednesday 23rd November 2016 |
If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how it should be done.
If our First Goalscorer bet has lost by half-time, Sun Bets will refund our stake as a free bet up to £10.00.
This offer is applicable to one qualifying bet per customer, per day.
At the time of writing, the lay odds are pretty poor, but the fictional odds in the following example will give you an idea of how this offer might pan out.
We’ll need to lay our First Goalscorer bets on the Betfair Exchange.
We can calculate our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £8.66…
Place £10.00 on Harry Kane @ 5.50 = Potential profit of £45.00
Lay £8.66 on Harry Kane @ 6.40 = Potential liability of £46.77
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…
Harry Kane scores first | + £45.00 – £46.77 = £1.77 loss |
Someone else scores first before half-time | – £10.00 + £8.23 + £8.00 (extract 80% from £10.00 free bet) = £6.23 profit |
Someone else scores first after half-time or match drawn 0-0 | – £10.00 + £8.23 = £1.77 loss |
So, if any player other than Harry Kane scores first before half-time, we’ll make a nice profit of £6.23. Any other outcome and we’ll have made a small loss of £1.77. Risking £1.77 to make a profit of £6.23, gives us effective odds of 4.52, which I’m sure you’ll agree, makes this a profitable offer in the long run.
This offer is available on all televised Champions League matches. It’s entirely up to you which selections you go for.
I’ll update the following table with my selections throughout the week…
Fixture | Selection | Back Odds | Lay Odds | Qualifying Loss | Potential Profit |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Leicester v Club Brugge | – | – | – | – | – |
Monaco v Tottenham | – | – | – | – | – |
Arsenal v PSG | Cavani | 5.00 | 6.20 | £2.28 | £5.72 |
Monchengladbach v Man City | – | – | – | – | – |
Celtic v Barcelona | – | – | – | – | – |
So, as you can see, we’ll lose a couple of quid on each bet that doesn’t come off, but with approximately £6.00 profit per game up for grabs, this offer is well worth a shot!
