BetBright Offer – US PGA Championship 2016

The US PGA Championship 2016 gets underway today and BetBright are getting in on the action. Place a pre-tournament bet on the US PGA Championship Outright Winner market and every time our player makes 3 birdies in the same round, BetBright will give us a free bet. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £12.08 and here’s how…

Qualifying Bet:

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.

Our qualifying bet must be placed before the tournament starts, which gets underway at 12:00 on Thursday 28th July 2016.

For every £20.00 staked (maximum of £100.00) on our selected player, BetBright will give us a £1.00 free bet every time they make 3 birdies in the same round. Therefore, if we bet the maximum amount of £100.00, we’ll get a £5.00 free bet each time our player makes 3 birdies in the same round.

For those of you who aren’t overly familiar with golf, a birdie is when a player gets the ball in the hole in one shot under par. Eagles (2 shots under par) and Albatrosses (3 shots under par) will be classed as a birdie for the purpose of this promotion.

It’s entirely up to you who you place your qualifying bet on but it makes sense to go for a player with fairly low odds. This gives us a good chance of bagging some free bets and keeps our qualifying loss to a minimum. The tournament is scheduled to finish on Sunday 31st July 2016.

Having looked at the odds available, I’ve opted to place my qualifying bet on Dustin Johnson.

I like to place my exchange lay bets with Smarkets as they have great liquidity, the site is really easy to use and they only charge 2% commission in comparison to the 5% charged by other betting exchanges.

You can find the US PGA Championship market by entering ‘US PGA Championship’ in the search box at the top of the homepage or by using the following link trail…

Smarkets > Golf > Majors 2016 > US PGA Championship

We can work out our lay stake by entering our odds into my matched betting calculator…

Place £100.00 on Dustin Johnson @ 9.00 = Potential profit of £800.00

smarkets white

Lay £98.04 on Dustin Johnson @ 9.20 = Potential liability of £803.92

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the two outcomes…

Dustin Johnson wins + £800.00 – £803.92 = £3.92 loss
Dustin Johnson doesn’t win – £100.00 + £96.08 (£98.04 minus 2% commission) = £3.92 loss

So, regardless of who wins the tournament, we will lose £3.92 in qualifying for our potential free bets.

Free Bets:

For every 3 birdies that Dustin Johnson makes per round, we will get a £5.00 free bet credited by 11:30 the following day. If Dustin Johnson were to make 3 birdies in each of the 4 rounds, we would receive £20.00 in free bets, from which we would extract 80% as cash, so £16.00.

If we take into account our qualifying loss of £3.92, this gives us a potential profit of £12.08 on this BetBright offer!

* Dustin Johnson made 1 birdie in each of the first two rounds, meaning I made a loss of £3.92 on this BetBright offer. *
