Betway Free Bet Offer – Ryder Cup 2014

The Ryder Cup is so big, even Betway are getting in on the act!  Simply place a ‘To Lift The Trophy’ or ‘Ryder Cup Winner’ bet and if Europe lose, Betway will refund losing bets as a free bet up to a maximum of £25.00.  Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £12.27 and here’s how…

Qualifying Bet:

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walkthrough guide on how to place your qualifying bets.

This is a really simple qualifying bet.  We need to place it on a Europe win so that we will automatically qualify for a free bet refund in the event that Europe lose.

BETWAY

Place £25.00 on Europe @ 1.60 = Potential profit of £15.00

betfair

Lay £23.53 on Europe @ 1.75 = Potential liability of £17.65

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the three outcomes…

Europe win +£15.00 – £17.65 = £2.65 loss
USA win -£25.00 + £22.35 + £20.00 (extract 80% from our £25.00 free bet) = £17.35 profit
Tie -£25.00 – £22.35 = £2.65 loss

If you’re unsure how to extract 80% of our £25.00 free bet, check out my Free Bet Strategy page for a walkthrough guide on how it should be done.

So as things stand we will make £17.35 profit if USA win.  Unfortunately, we also stand to lose £2.65 if Europe win or it’s a tie and so we need to insure ourselves against this by backing Europe.

Place £4.08 on Europe @ 1.65 = Potential profit of £2.65

Let’s have a look at our overall profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

Europe win -£2.65 + £2.65 = £0.00
USA win £17.35 – £4.08 = £13.27 profit
Tie -£2.65 – £4.08 = £6.73 loss

So if Europe win, we will break even and there’s no harm done.  However, if Europe don’t win, we will make a profit of £13.27.  The only outcome that leaves us vulnerable is a tie and we can cover this by sticking a quid on this at any bookie at odds of around 11.00.
