Am I Doing This Right?

    Hello everyone, I’ve been researching MB for a couple of days now and believe I’ve developed an understanding as to how it works. Tomorrow I’m looking to do my first qualifying bet to get me started – I’ll be doing the Ladbrokes £50 free bet.

    I’ve just been looking at a good bet to do the qualifying bet on and /believe/ I’ve found the perfect one, so I will explain it, and can somebody with experience tell me if I’ll be doing it correctly?

    So I’ll deposit £50 into Ladbrokes and however much I need into Smarkets. I found a football match with as close odds to 1.5 (to qualify for free bet initial must be 1.5+) as possible and tomorrow there is GENK V KORTRIJK with back odds of 1.53 on Ladbrokes and lay odds at Smarkets of 1.58. When I use the calculator, it says that either way I will actually profit £1.27 and get the free bet, however in this sites’ guide it seems to insinuate that the qualifying bet will always encounter a slight loss. So am I wrong or have I found the perfect qualifying bet?

    PS. If I placed the bets now ready for 7:30PM tomorrow at the current odds, would they be able to change the odds on me once it’s placed? So should you always wait to place bets as soon as possible to match start?

    EDIT: Smarkets lay liquidity for the GENK match is only £0.87 so clearly I can’t use this now, but if it were more would my example be correct? I’ll do Brighton v Cardiff for a -£1.88 loss instead!

    My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

    I’m not sure where you got +£1.27 from, at those odds on a £50 bet you would lose £1.94. double check you’re using the correct settings.

    Apart from that it does sound like you have got the idea, but I really wouldn’t bet on some Belgium league match (unless of course you live in Belgium), so Brighton v Cardiff is a much better choice. Remember, you need to blend in as a mug punter!

    Good luck

    @deathstar I just re-did the calculations and have no idea how I came up with +£1.27 haha. I’ll be doing Brighton vs Cardiff! Just done my deposits into Ladbrokes and Smarkets so can see what odds I can get now and if there’s enough liquidity!

    Okay. So my first ever MB qualifying bet as follows, I hope it was done correctly!

    Backing Brighton vs Cardiff w/£50 @1.66 (Ladbrokes)
    Laying Brighton vs Cardiff w/£49.11 @ 1.71 (Smarkets)

    Return = -£1.87 + £50 free bet at Ladbrokes.

    looks good.

    Remember to use the freebet at higher odds, and of course with that you will need more cash in smarkets.
