Non-runners

  • Good morning all,

This has probably been asked before but I haven’t been able to find the answer on a quick search of the forum.

So, I was just having a little look at the horse racing today on oddschecker. I happened to be looking at the 13.50 at Ascot when Label Des Obeaux was declared a non-runner. The odds on Flintham dropped at the exchange to 8.0ish as a result. The odds with a few bookies were still showing higher than this, Totesport and Betfred were showing 11.0, I assumed this was because they hadn’t been updated for the non-runner.

I logged in to Totesport to check. Totesport was showing Label Des Obeaux as a non runner but had odds of 11.0 on Flintham so I put a couple of quid on it.

I have a screenshot of Totesport’s site showing odds of 10/1 on Flintham and that Label Des Obeaux is a non-runner. Assuming Totesport were a bit slow updating their odds and still apply the rule 4 deduction to my bet, (should it win) do I have a leg to stand in arguing that the non-runner should have already been reflected in the odds when I put the bet on.

Clearly I’m jumping the gun a little (and should just wait for the result) but, I thought I’d ask now as if it loses I’d probably just forget about it (until it happens again).

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

It was beaten on the line by Bigbadjohn so I guess I’ll never know.
