Norwich V Newcastle 14th Feb 2017

  • Hi

Just had an interesting situation that I placed a bet on Smarkets for a draw at 4.5 15 mins ” in-Play “..went out and came back to find that they had cancelled my bet at half time. Does anyone know if this is standard in their T & C as they never have done this before. My bet was placed on the full time result and I did not want it cancelling until either full time or a goal and I expected that to be matched. If Im wrong in understanding this, then fair enough _ i wont play ” in Play ” with S Markets again but one of the main players.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Your bet must not have been matched (which it wouldn’t be if you placed an order on the draw for 4.5 whilst the game was 1-1 in the 15th minute), and was most likely voided when the market was halted due to a goal. This is standard practice on Smarkets I believe.

Yep a significant event that can affect the outcome of the game eg goal, red card. There may be a setting to over-ride this somehow IIRC

Hi gents..many thanks for the reply..I placeedt he draw bet when the scare was 2-1 and unless a penalty, red card or end of game i do not expect that to be cancelled – obviously the goal would can it but the goal was scored at 81st minute and the odds were way over 4.5 then… please be aware to all re this and use other betting sites

It is generally what you want to happen though. When there is a significant change to the market you want your queued bets cancelled. Why would you want to leave an order for 4.5 for the draw if say Norwich had scored and went 3-1 up or if someone got a red card? Somebody will steal your money and you’ll be on a payout of 4.5 for something very unlikely to happen.

If your stake was never matched then that’s you’re own fault.
