New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

For me, the bigger change is that they have introduced a fee of 2.5% for deposits using cards. I tend to use Paypal, which they don’t accept, so card has been my method of choice.
Betfair charge for Paypal but not cards. The Smarkets change erodes the cost advantage that Smarkets had over Betfair, which for me was the only reason to put up with the inferior product (based on interface, reliability, range of markets and liquidity).
I realise they support the existence of this place but I won’t be using them as my 1st choice any longer.
+0Pretty sure card charge is just for credit card…no charge for debit card?
+0Correct, Big Mick
Asian Handicaps have probably been introduced to try and wrestle some of that business from Betfair – huge volumes (and commish!) get traded on those markets.
The best new thing they could introduce for me would be the ‘Match Result & BTTS’ market – that would really give me no reason to use Betfair at all any longer.
+0My mistake. I think I was mislead as it’s the first time I’ve seen that text on the site and I didn’t read it properly.
Made that mistake with T&Cs often enough. Think I’d learn.
+0Don’t know if something has happened at Smarkets, but recently I’ve found their liquidity in play on big matches is next to nothing. For example, the BTTS market last night on PSG Barca had virtually nothing in it for the first 20 minutes, whereas Betfair had hundreds. Same happened with the Chelsea Arsenal game the other week – no lay option whatsoever for much of the game.
