Starting Out Help

  • Hi guys, I’ve been betting for around 6 months now, seen a decent amount of profit on and off. However I’ve recently become a student and now don’t really have the space to be losing any money. Came across matched betting and really interested…

The only thing that is bothering me is that – I already have accounts with the most known bookies; 365, William Hill, Coral, Ladbrokes etc, And I have already taken advantage of their welcome bonus’s previously. Will this make matched betting a lot harder for me? Or decrease the amount of profit entirely ?

From what I understand fundamentally the use of welcome bonus’s is what helps to get the ball rolling, and I won’t have this available.

I appreciate any feedback that is given!

    Cheers

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

have a look at Matts blog and the new offers forum, you will find plenty of ongoing offers (well, its a quiet time of year but there is still a few) and then have a look at the matched betting forum for a few ideas on making money like each way arbs and Accas, although these are quite advanced strategies and require a lot of cash in the exchange so take it nice and slow to find your feet and build your bankroll.

I can also pretty much guarantee you haven’t done ALL the sign ups so have a look at the list on the left and take your pick. Make sure you read the T+Cs and understand what the offer is and how to do it.

    Good luck!

There are people who haven’t done a sign up in months and have lost ALL the accounts that you have listed above and still make a few hundred per month.

Personally I never put much value on the sign up offers. There is a lot of reading terms and conditions and validating accounts and transferring money. It’s funny that most of the newbies think this sign ups are where it is at.

My preference has always been to find a repeat offer like 4/1+ offer or an acca offer and once you get used to them you can do them on autopilot day after day week after week.

It might work to your advantage that you have just used your accounts to mug bet as your history won’t stand out as a matched bettor. At least for a while it will protect your accounts.

Thanks for the feedback and help it is appreciated.

Gonna have a look into trying it out soon then if there is still alot to do without the new customer offers, Think I’ve seen New Customer offers come up so much for some reason I had it in my head it needed to be with them.

I have one last other query; so the bonus’s and offers can really help but would matched betting still work all the same if I was to theoretically (I don’t plan to at the start), deposit money into two accounts and as long as I have enough funds to lay the bet etc the profit would all work the same ?

I think I’m just gonna keep reading the guides on here, wait for a blog post to come up I fancy and try and follow it, taking it slow is the best idea I imagine.

Apologise for the obvious questions, just trying to get it all straight !

Sorry I also forgot to ask, you mentioned that due to previous betting my accounts would at least be protected for a while and would not stand out as a matched better.

I was under the impression from what I have read that matched betting was something the bookies know about and didn’t do much to stop as it was all legal etc.
Have bookies been known to close accounts then ? and what would be the main reasoning?

    Thanks again

I remember reading that when i started too, and unfortunately, its severly out of date. while it is legal, bookies used to not like it much but put up with it. Now, with the rise of websites and services like Profit Accumulator etc they have tighten up on “bonus abuse” and either ban you from bonuses (a gubbing) or limit your stakes or both (usually both).
Generally, people think that backing and laying bets with no value or bonus attached (mugging) help you to blend in with other customers who are not matched betting. So your previous career as a punter should help your account at least.

I don’t understand your question about the two accounts.

The bookie offers are key to making profits. That’s where the value comes from. You can’t just back and lay random markets and work like that. Or am I missing your point??
