Cheltenham Festival 2019 Offer – NetBet

The Cheltenham Festival 2019 gets underway on Tuesday and you don’t want to miss this NetBet Money Back Special! Simply place a bet on the first race at Cheltenham each day and if our horse finishes in the standard industry places, NetBet will refund our stake as a free bet, up to £10.00. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us an overall potential profit of £29.48 and here’s how…

Key Terms:

  • We must opt in once on the promotion page to be eligible for all 4 days.
  • Maximum stake of £10.00 at odds of 3.00 (2/1) or greater.
  • Qualifying bets must be placed on the Race Winner market.
  • To be eligible for a free bet refund, our selection must finish within the standard industry places. These will be 2, 3 or 4 places depending on the number of runners in each race.

Qualifying Bets:

This offer is available on the first race each day as follows…

Race Time Date
Supreme Novices’ Hurdle 13:30 Tuesday 12th March 2019
Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle 13:30 Wednesday 13th March 2019
JLT Novices’ Steeple Chase 13:30 Thursday 14th March 2019
JCB Triumph Hurdle 13:30 Friday 15th March 2019

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how it should be done.

It’s entirely up to you which horses you go for, but it would make sense to select horses with fairly short odds in the hope of a placed finish.

The back and lay odds should tighten up as the start of the festival gets nearer. In the meantime though, I’ll use fictional lay odds for Al Dancer (3/1) in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle to illustrate how this offer should be done each day. I’ll update the table at the bottom of the post with some actual selections after each race.

At the time of writing, laying our bet at Smarkets is likely to give us the biggest potential profit.

We can work out our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…

As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £9.57…

NetBet logo

Place £10.00 on Al Dancer @ 4.00 = Potential profit of £30.00

Smarkets logo

Lay £9.57 on Al Dancer @ 4.20 = Potential liability of £30.62

Outcomes:

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

Outcome Bookie Exchange Extracted Profit/Loss
Al Dancer wins +£30.00 -£30.62 £0.62 loss
Al Dancer places -£10.00 +£9.37 +£8.00 £7.37 profit
Al Dancer doesn’t place -£10.00 +£9.37 £0.63 loss

So, we’ll make a nice profit of £7.37 if Al Dancer finishes in the industry standard places and we stand to lose a maximum of £0.63 on any other outcome. Risking £0.63 to make a profit of £7.37 gives us effective odds of 12.70, which I’m sure you’ll agree, makes this a profitable offer in the long run.

This offer is available on the first race each day of the Cheltenham Festival 2019, giving us an overall potential profit of £29.48 on this NetBet offer!

If eligible, free bets will be credited within 24 hours of the respective race ending. Free bets will be valid on horse racing for 7 days and free bet stakes are not included in any returns.

I’ll update the following table with some actual selections after each race…

Race Selection Back Odds Lay Odds Profit/Loss
Supreme Novices’ Hurdle Fakir D’Oudairies 7.50 7.80 -£0.56
Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle Champ 5.50 5.80 +£7.32
JLT Novices’ Steeple Chase Defi Du Seuil 3.75 4.10 +£1.52*
JCB Triumph Hurdle Sir Erec 2.10 2.26 -£0.81

* Defi Du Seuil won the race with a starting price (SP) of 4.00 (3/1), resulting in a small qualifying profit courtesy of NetBet’s Best Odds Guaranteed promotion.
