West Ham host Bournemouth in the late kick-off today and Betway are getting in on the action! If Dimitri Payet scores at anytime during West Ham v Bournemouth, Betway will refund losing pre-match Correct Score, Scorecast and Goalscorer bets as a free bet, up to a maximum of £25.00. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £17.21 and here’s how…
Qualifying Bet:
If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.
As with all player-specific promotions, it’s a good idea to wait until the starting line-ups have been announced, before placing our qualifying bets.
Ideally, we’d like to place our qualifying bet on a Correct Score that sees Bournemouth keeping a clean sheet. This ensures that if Dimitri Payet scores, we will automatically be eligible for a free bet refund as our qualifying bet will have lost.
At the time of writing, there aren’t any suitable selections, so I’ve opted to keep my qualifying loss to a minimum and place it on 2-1 to West Ham in the Correct Score market.
I like to place my exchange lay bets with Smarkets as they have great liquidity, the site is really easy to use and they only charge 2% commission in comparison to the 5% charged by other betting exchanges.
We can calculate our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £22.66…
Place £25.00 on 2-1 West Ham @ 9.50 = Potential profit of £212.50
Lay £22.66 on 2-1 West Ham @ 10.50 = Potential liability of £215.29
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…
2-1 West Ham | + £212.50 – £215.29 = £2.79 loss |
Not 2-1 West Ham and Payet scores | – £25.00 + £22.21 + £20.00 (extract 80% from our £25.00 free bet) = £17.21 profit |
Not 2-1 West Ham and Payet doesn’t score | – £25.00 + £22.21 = £2.79 loss |
So, if West Ham don’t win 2-1 and Dimitri Payet scores, we will make a nice profit of £17.21. If West Ham do win 2-1 or Payet doesn’t score, we’ll have made a loss of £2.79. Risking £2.79 to make a profit of £17.21, gives us effective odds of 7.17, so given that the odds of Payet scoring at anytime are 2.375, this is a profitable offer in the long run, even though we need a scoreline of anything other than 2-1 to West Ham.
If eligible, free bets will be credited within 48 hours of the match finishing and will be valid for 7 days. Free bet stakes are not included in any returns.
* Dimitri Payet was left out of the West Ham squad, so I decided to give this one a miss. *
