Having looked at the odds available for Chelsea v Leicester City, I’ve opted to place my qualifying bet on Diego Costa.
We’ll need to lay our First Goalscorer bets on the Betfair Exchange.

As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £8.32…
Place £10.00 on Diego Costa @ 4.20 = Potential profit of £32.00
Lay £8.32 on Diego Costa @ 5.10 = Potential liability of £34.10
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

| Someone else scores first before half-time | – £10.00 + £7.90 + £8.00 (extract 80% from £10.00 free bet) = £5.90 profit |
| Someone else scores first after half-time | – £10.00 + £7.90 = £2.10 loss |
So, if any player other than Diego Costa scores first before half-time, we will make a nice profit of £5.90. If, however, Diego Costa scores first or the score is 0-0 at half-time, we’ll have made a small loss of £2.10. Risking £2.10 to make a profit of £5.90, gives us effective odds of 3.81, which I’m sure you’ll agree, makes this a profitable offer in the long run.
