Kick-off time (GMT): 12/07/2015 : 03:00

It’s time for another fantastic Paddy Power offer!  Simply place a single bet of £20.00 or more pre-fight on Chad Mendes v Conor McGregor and Paddy Power will give us a £10.00 free bet to be used in-play.  Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a guaranteed profit of £6.29 and here’s how…

Paddy Power Mendes v McGregor

Qualifying Bet:

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walkthrough guide on how to place your qualifying bets.

It’s entirely up to you what you place your qualifying bet on, as long as you place it at the minimum odds of 1.50 (1/2) or above.  Having looked at the odds available, I’ve opted to place my qualifying bet on Conor McGregor.

We can calculate our lay stakes using the matched betting calculator.

paddypower

Place £20.00 on Conor McGregor @ 1.533 = Potential profit of £10.66

betfair

Lay £19.78 on Conor McGregor @ 1.60 = Potential liability of £11.87

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the following outcomes…

Conor McGregor wins +£10.66 – £11.87 = £1.21 loss
Conor McGregor doesn't win -£20.00 + £18.79 = £1.21 loss

So regardless of the result of the fight, we will lose £1.21 in qualifying for our £10.00 in-play free bet.

Free Bet:

It’s impossible to know what odds will be available until the fight has commenced but by using straightforward matched betting, we should be able to extract 75% out of the £10.00 free bet as cash, so £7.50.  If we take into account our qualifying loss of £1.21, this gives us a guaranteed profit of £6.29!

If you’re not sure how to extract 75% of the £10.00 free in play bet, please see my Free Bet Strategy page for a walkthrough guide on how it should be done.

I'm confused because it says 3am on Betfair but 4:50 on Paddy Power. It's just that I don't want to wake up at 3 unnecessarily.

I've been following this site for a month now (great blog!) and frequently bet on mma for fun anyway so this is one I can chip in on...

The event starts at 3am the main event walk outs *generally* 5am onwards so PP about right but depends on how many of the main card fights go the distance.

I haven't decided how to use the in play bet and there is a real possibility of a quick finish in this one. They are also very quick to freeze the markets at the first hint of a fighter in danger. I'll check back if I think of anything and interested to hear advice on this!
