New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Happy hunting 😀
+0Cheers @tony, that’s a handy list, might print that out and stick it on the wall for the afternoon – when there’s so many qualifying races with different offers across the bookies, it’s easy to lose track!
+0No worries, I need visual cues too (my spreadsheet) otherwise I lose track of what’s what and what’s next, especially on Saturdays… 🙂
+0Starting this offer tomorrow, my task today will be reading through this thread. Any of you lads who do it regularly/have done it – mind a quick sum up and a friendly advice? And what starting bank would you recommend, 200-300-400?
+0*Stick to favs/2nd favs
*The longer the race the better
*As close to the minimum needed 6 runners as possible
*Watch odds for 15 mins before race if you can – that is when you will get the closest match, often (n)arbs. Usually almost exactly 10 mins before the off Hill will increase the price in the fav to be more in line with the exchange. This can often be when the lay will shorten in the next 60-120 seconds
*Don’t accidentally try to do it on FLAT races (often the last race on the card can be a NH flat race)
*Be prepared to get annoyed by how many winners you have by 3.5-4.5 lengths!! ?
*Have plenty cash to top up your exchange float as you will inevitably back a lot of winners
+0Starting bank depend on what level of FB you are targetting. Personally I go £200+ on odds-on favs, £100 on anything from evens to 2/1… seeking at least a £25 FB for winning by 5L+
It all depends on the odds tbh, but it’s not uncommon to have £1k – £2k sloshing around in my Hills account. Has proved useful for the 4+ goals promo too 😉
In terms of QL I will not often accept anything more than £1 per £25 FB (hopefully) generated
+0My advice and experience thus far!
I tend to have hit this fast and hard (not gubbed yet), but been doing this everyday for 3-4 weeks (with the odd day off).
– I use large stakes on favs (sometimes £300-400 if odds are low, say 1.5)
– If an arb comes up I take it
– I have everything ready to go, i.e.. smarkets prices up and bets ready to go asap
– You can bet on 5+ lengths and MB 2nd (I am sure I have had both free bets from one race)
– I think you can do multiple bets on the same race (if you get the odds needed) to increase chances (again, I think this is the case).
– some days you won’t hit anything, just unlucky…. other days you can walk with £100 in free bets
– It is the best offer I have ever done, but I have £1000 in WH and £1000 in smarkets minimum with more firepower in the bank if needed.Billy
– I think betting on favs/2nd favs give you a small advantage+0Wow didn’t expect a reply like that cheers TONY
+0Thanks as well billy
+0No worries… it’s a great offer imho.
You might also consider throwing in a couple of mug a few bets on those races on the card that don’t qualify (5 runners or less). If you do that though, make sure you bet at the same stakes you normally would if the race was qualifying. Likewise a few mug bets on races at other (non-qualifying) meetings don’t seem to do any harm.
I am not one to advocate mug punting but it seems to have served me well here as many have been shut down doing this offer but I’m still going strong (touch wood!)
+0My advice would be to put £300 into Hills and have a crack using the strategy/stakes suggested above.
As I said, you will likely back plenty of winners (even if not hitting the bonus) to increase your balance over at Hills relatively quickly.
+0Alternatively, stick £100 in Hills and trial it on lower stakes to start with. That might give you that chance to see what I mean about the odds movements happening like clockwork and to generally ‘get used’ to the offer
