It’s a big weekend of FA Cup 3rd Round action and Betfair are getting in on the action! Simply place a £20.00+ Exchange back bet on any Saturday FA Cup match and Betfair will give us a £10.00 free bet to use on Liverpool v Everton on Sunday. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £7.13 and here’s how…
Key Terms:
- We must opt-in to this promotion to be eligible.
- The minimum stake to qualify is £20.00.
- We must place an Exchange back bet on any FA Cup match on Saturday 4th January 2020.
- £10.00 free bet must be used via mobile on the Match Odds market of Liverpool v Everton.
Qualifying Bet:
If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.
If you’re paying 2% commission with Betfair’s Basic package, you won’t be eligible for this ‘Bet £20, Get £10’ Exchange offer.
We’ll need to lay our bet at another exchange.
It’s entirely up to you what you place your qualifying bet on. Having looked at the odds available, we could place our qualifying bet on Reading to beat Blackpool.
We can calculate our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £19.53.
Outcomes:
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…
Outcome | Betfair | Other Exchange | Profit/Loss |
---|---|---|---|
Reading win | +£16.72 | -£17.57 | £0.85 loss |
Reading don’t win | -£20.00 | +£19.13 | £0.87 loss |
So, regardless of the outcome, we’ll lose a maximum of £0.87 in qualifying for our free bet.
Free Bet:
We’ll receive our £10.00 free bet upon settlement of our qualifying bet. The free bet must be used via mobile on the Match Odds market of Liverpool v Everton, which kicks off at 16:01 on Sunday 5th January 2020.
By using straightforward matched betting, we should be able to extract 80% cash from our £10.00 free bet, so £8.00. If we take into account our maximum qualifying loss of £0.87, this gives us a guaranteed profit of £7.13 on this Betfair Exchange offer!
* Reading drew 2-2 with Blackpool, resulting in a profit of £7.13 on this Betfair Exchange offer. *

Guest userThese Betfair offers have been really great! I’ve been getting on all of them, easy £7/£8 profit! I know it’s on the Exchange, but do you think there’s a risk of being gubbed by doing every one? I mug bet on the Sportsbook but rarely touch the Exchange, unless for these offers …
Matt
1532I think there’s always a risk Dave, but if you mug bet and mix things up as much as possible, you should fly under the radar.
Bob
Guest userThis offer states the free bet must be used on liverpool to beat everton. Is there any value in this?
Matt
1532It can be placed on any Match Odds selection Bob.
Sean
Guest userThe free £10 bet only show up on the overall match odds. Doesn’t seem to be available for 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 etc
At time of writing can only get back Liverpool 2.24/lay 2.28.
Anyone found an other ways the free £10 can be used on the match?
Gary
Guest userNot sure if I’ve done something wrong but I got my freebet, placed on the draw then cashed out, any result is then supposed to pay me £7.16 according to when I now check the market.
Agree with earlier comment gave only been able to use on match result market.

2Gary – this is what I’ve done and I’m fairly sure it’s the best way of extracting money from the free bet as the odds on the match result are too low.
Mark
Guest userCan we use our free bet in play? My thinking is if either team leads 1-0 then backing the other team will be a much better outcome
Vince
Guest userI’m planning on the same. IF the bet is available in play. I can’t see anything in the T&C’s that claims it must be used before kick off. The only statement that helps slightly is “The free bet will expire after the eligible match has ended”. Ended, rather than ‘started’.
George
Guest userThe cash out is the only sure way to get anything over £7 as profit. Matt, I’m surprised you have not mentioned that. Also Matt, you’ve shown the Liverpool/Sheff Utd game from last week as an example for this offer which is confusing.
George
Guest userI did what Gary and Rambo did. It showed as two separate bets. The free bet backing the draw and the cash out laying the draw. I placed the free bet to back the draw and then immediately cashed out which automatically created a lay on the draw. The cash out was £7.27.
Unless anybody waited for someone to score – which in itself is gambling – then I can’t see any other way to extract a decent profit from this offer.
Mark
Guest userThose cashing out their free back bet are effectively laying their selection hence breaking the terms of the offer, a bit risky which is probably why Matt hasn’t advised that method.
