Sky Bet Free Bet Offer – Man City v Man Utd

We can’t get enough of these Sky Bet free bet offers!  Simply place a £25.00 bet on Manchester City v Manchester United and if both teams score, Sky Bet will refund all losing first goalscorer, last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles as a free bet up to £25.00!  Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential risk-free profit of £14.17 and here’s how…

Qualifying Bet:

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walkthrough guide on how to place your qualifying bets.

Whenever I do these Sky Bet free bet offers, I always stick to the correct score market. I find the liquidity at the betting exchange is far better than goalscorer markets and I just feel more comfortable here.  We need to select a scoreline that sees someone keeping a clean sheet.  This ensures that if both teams score, we will automatically qualify for a free bet refund as our qualifying bet will have lost.  It’s entirely up to you which score you go for.  Having looked at the odds available, I’ve opted for a 0-0 draw.

skybet

Place £25.00 on 0-0 draw @ 19.00 = Potential profit of £450.00

betfair

Lay £22.67 on 0-0 draw @ 21.00 = Potential liability of £453.40

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the three outcomes…

0-0 draw +£450.00 – £453.40 = £3.40 loss
Not 0-0 draw and both teams score -£25.00 + £21.54 + £20.00 (extract 80% from our £25.00 free bet) = £16.54 profit
Not 0-0 draw and someone keeps a clean sheet -£25.00 + £21.54 = £3.46 loss

If you’re unsure how to extract 80% of our £25.00 free bet, check out my Free Bet Strategy page for a walkthrough guide on how it should be done.

So as things stand we will make £16.54 profit if both teams score.  Unfortunately, we also stand to lose a maximum of £3.46 if someone keeps a clean sheet and so we need to insure ourselves against this by laying both teams to score at the betting exchange.  In order to calculate our lay stake, we need to divide £3.46 by 0.95 to account for the 5% commission.  This gives us a lay stake of £3.64.

betfair

Lay £3.64 on both teams to score @ 1.65 = Potential liability of £2.37

Let’s have a look at our overall profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

0-0 draw -£3.40 + £3.46 = £0.06 profit
Not 0-0 draw and both teams score £16.54 – £2.37 = £14.17 profit
Not 0-0 draw and someone keeps a clean sheet -£3.46 + £3.46 = £0.00

So if someone keeps a clean sheet, we will break even and there’s no harm done.  However, if both teams score, we will make a risk-free profit of £14.17!
