Ryder Cup 2018 Offer – William Hill

The Ryder Cup 2018 gets underway on Friday and you don’t want to miss this William Hill offer. Simply bet £10.00 on the top combined points scorer and William Hill will give us a £5.00 free bet every time they win a match! Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £19.63 and here’s how…

Key Terms:

  • The minimum stake is £10.00 for win singles or £10.00 each way.
  • Applies to first qualifying bet on the ‘Ryder Cup – Top Combined Points Scorer‘ market.
  • Qualifying bet must be placed between 00:00 on Monday 10th September 2018 and 07:10 (tee-off) on Friday 28th September 2018.
  • £5.00 free bet for every match our selected player wins (halves do not count).

Qualifying Bet:

If you’re unsure about how to place qualifying bets, check out my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.

It’s entirely up to you which player you place your qualifying bet on. Having looked at the odds available, we could place our qualifying bet on Patrick Reed. Patrick Reed has been the top scoring American player at the previous two Ryder Cups in 2014 and 2016.

At the time of writing, laying our bet at Smarkets gives us the smallest qualifying loss.

We can calculate our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…

As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £9.75…

William Hill logo

Place £10.00 on Patrick Reed @ 19.00 = Potential profit of £180.00

Smarkets logo

Lay £9.75 on Patrick Reed @ 19.50 = Potential liability of £180.37

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

Patrick Reed top scores + £180.00 – £180.37 = £0.37 loss
Patrick Reed doesn’t top score – £10.00 + £9.55 (£9.75 minus 2% commission) = £0.45 loss

So, regardless of who top scores, we’ll lose a maximum of £0.45 in qualifying for our potential free bets.

Free Bets:

For every match that Patrick Reed wins, we’ll receive a £5.00 free bet by 12:00 the following day. Free bets will be valid for 4 days and free bet stakes are not included in any returns.

A player can play in a maximum of five matches across the three days. If Patrick Reed is selected for and wins all five of his matches, we’ll receive £25.00 in free bets.

By using straightforward matched betting, we should be able to extract 80% cash from our £25.00 in free bets, so £20.00. If we take our minimum qualifying loss of £0.37 into account, that gives us a potential profit of £19.63 on this William Hill offer!

* Patrick Reed won 1 of his 3 matches and Francesco Molinari finished top combined points scorer with 5 points, resulting in a profit of £3.55 on this William Hill offer. *
