Kick-off time (GMT): 20/06/2017 : 14:30

Guaranteed profit
£7.55

Royal Ascot 2017 gets underway on Tuesday and you don’t want to miss this Betfair offer! Place a £10.00 Exchange back bet on the 14:30 at Royal Ascot on Tuesday and Betfair will give us a £10.00 free Sportsbook bet to be used on the 16:20. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a guaranteed profit of £7.55 and here’s how…

Betfair Offer - 14:30 Royal Ascot (Tuesday)

Qualifying Bet:

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.

Qualifying bets must be placed pre-race at odds of 1.20 (1/5) or greater on the ‘Win’ market, to be eligible. Only bets on the Day of Race market count. Antepost, Sportsbook and Exchange in play bets do not count.

To qualify for a £10.00 free Sportsbook bet on the 16:20 at Royal Ascot on Tuesday, we must place an Exchange back bet of £10.00 on the 14:30 at Royal Ascot. We can therefore place a back bet on the Betfair Exchange and then lay our selection at Smarkets. It’s important to note that it’s against the terms of the offer to lay against our qualifying bet on the Betfair Exchange.

It’s entirely up to you which horse you place your qualifying bet on. Having looked at the odds available, I’ve opted to place my qualifying bet on Ribchester.

We can calculate our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…

As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £9.75…

Betfair logo

Place £10.00 on Ribchester @ 2.00 = Potential profit of £9.50

Smarkets logo

Lay £9.75 on Ribchester @ 2.02 = Potential loss of £9.94

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

Ribchester wins + £9.50 – £9.94 = £0.44 loss
Ribchester doesn't win - £10.00 + £9.55 (£9.75 minus 2% commission) = £0.45 loss

So, we’ll make a maximum loss of £0.45 in qualifying for our £10.00 free bet.

Free Bet:

Our £10.00 free Sportsbook bet will be credited upon settlement of the first race and may take up until 16:00 to be credited. Our free bet will expire at the start of the 16:20.

By using straightforward matched betting, we should be able to extract at least 80% of the £10.00 free bet as cash, so around £8.00. If we take into consideration our maximum qualifying loss of £0.45, we should make a guaranteed profit of £7.55 on this Betfair offer!

Do you know if the exchange bet can be a lay bet? So we can lay off a horse whilst qualifying for Sky's offer for instance.

It says in T&Cs that it has to be a back bet unfortunately

It's still available Chris. You should see it at the top of the Exchange homepage or on the Sportsbook > Promotions page.

When it says: Only bets on the Day of Race market count - so does that mean the qualifying bet has to be placed tomorrow (before 14:30)? - Just want to make sure.

Researching "ante post" indicates that bets need to be placed on the day of the race (and potentially after 10am?)

So placed a bet a few hours ago - no free bet showing up (also not sure when they provide it - I presume after the 14:30 race). Luckily the QB is a small loss (odds were good), so I'll probably place another QB between 10:00 - 14:00 just to be safe. Glad to know you were in the same boat Timmy.

Free bets are credited upon settlement of the first race Sam, as explained in the post mate.

Thanks for the confirmation Matt. Just spotted it now on your post, though it is not explicit on their website/ promotions page.

            No problem Sam.

'The free bet will only be credited upon settlement (closure) of the first race, and may take up until 16:00 BST on 20/06/2017 to be credited.'

Betfair have seperate antepost markets. The terms state "Please note the Win market will be live from 1pm on Sunday 18th June." so any bets placed after this are ok as far as I can see.

I was wondering that but couldn't see the separate market. I'm waiting 'til tomorrow to play it safe!

Good point, and thanks for the heads up Andy. No worries, it QL was worth the speculation anyway.

OK I have placed my QB with the QL of 0.45p. I hope it counts as it is the day of the race? The ante post clause is worrying me.

When I get my free bet I take it I use it on sportsbook and could lay it on the exchange at Betfair or will it need to be on smarkets as well?

Neil - DO NOT place your lay bet on betfair exchange as this is against the terms and could lead you to being gubbed. Use smarkets.

Check after the 2.30 race if your free bet has been credited.

No this won't be available to you. You'll probably find that the offer disappears from the promotions page when you log in.

I've used my bonus bet on the 17:00 because it let me.
I'm probably wrong but it looks as though the bonus stake is returned which is different to the usual way free bets work (stake not returned). Can anyone confirm, as I might need to lay more?
