It’s Day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival 2020 on Tuesday and you don’t want to miss this Betfair ‘Bet £20, Get £20′ offer! Simply place £20.00+ in Exchange back bets on the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and Betfair will give us £20.00 in Exchange mobile free bets to use on any of the remaining Day 1 races. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a guaranteed profit of £14.72 and here’s how…
Key Terms:
- Only customers opted into the Rewards or Rewards Plus plans are eligible
- We must stake a total of £20.00 in Exchange back bets on the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.
- The race is scheduled to start at 13:30 on Tuesday 10th March 2020.
- Applies to bets on the Win market.
- £20.00 in Exchange free bets must be used via mobile on any of the remaining Day 1 races.
Qualifying Bets:
If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.
If you’re paying 2% commission with Betfair’s Basic package, you won’t be eligible for this ‘Bet £20, Get £20’ Exchange offer.
We’ll need to lay our bet at another exchange.
It’s entirely up to you what you place your qualifying bet on. Having looked at the odds available, we could place our qualifying bet on Asterion Forlonge.
We can calculate our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £19.11.
Outcomes:
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…
Outcome | Betfair | Other Exchange | Profit/Loss |
---|---|---|---|
Asterion Forlonge wins | +£54.15 | -£55.41 | £1.26 loss |
Asterion Forlonge doesn’t win | -£20.00 | +£18.72 | £1.28 loss |
So, regardless of the outcome, we’ll lose a maximum of £1.28 in qualifying for our £20.00 free bet.
Free Bet:
We’ll receive our £20.00 in Exchange free bets upon settlement of our qualifying bet. The free bets must be used via mobile on any of the remaining Day 1 races.
By using straightforward matched betting, we should be able to extract 80% cash from our £20.00 in free bets, so £16.00. If we take into account our maximum qualifying loss of £1.28, this gives us a guaranteed profit of £14.72 on this Betfair Exchange offer!
* Asterion Forlonge failed to win the race, resulting in a profit of £14.72 on this Betfair Exchange offer. *

Guest userI’m a little confused by this. Do I have to place a back bet on a different betting page and then the lay bet via Betfair? And then how do I use the 20 free bet? Thanks
Mark
Guest userYou back £20 on the Betfair exchange then lay that selection on another Exchange, either Smarkets or Matchbook.
Then do the same thing with the free bet.
Kirsty
Guest userAh right. Thanks.
Dunkstar
Guest userIf I’ve opted for the basic account paying 2% commission does this mean i’m not entitled to this offer?
Dunkstar
Guest userApologies, I see it in your description now….
Matt

Guest userI got £20 free bet but only to be used on another Cheltenham race today (it wasn’t available on football – only horses and only Cheltenham) – so placed it on 2nd and 3rd horse. Wish me luck now 😉
Matt
