Qualifying bet
If you’re unfamiliar with early payout offers, please see my Bet365 Early Payout (2UP) guide for a walkthrough of how they should be done.
Having looked at the odds available, we could place our qualifying bet on Man Utd. If Man Utd score first, Betway will pay our bet out as a winner.
Either exchange works for this offer

We can calculate our lay stake using my Early Payout Calculator…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that we should lay £9.63 against Man Utd…
Place £10.00 on Man Utd @ 3.40 = Potential profit of £24.00
Lay £9.63 on Man Utd @ 3.55 = Potential liability of £24.56
No early payout
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss if Man Utd don’t score first…
So, worst case scenario, we’ll lose £0.56 in qualifying for this offer.
Early payout!
If Man Utd score first, we need to select the early payout toggle (in the grey section) to tell the calculator that ‘The bookmaker has paid out early‘…
As you can see, our potential profit/loss is as follows, now that Betway have paid out early…
So, if we let things run and Man Utd go on to win, we’ll still lose £0.56, but if Man Utd lose or draw, we’ll make a profit of £33.44!
Lock in profit
If we decide to lock in a profit, we’ll need to enter the back odds for Man Utd to win at Betfair. I’ll use back odds of 1.60 to illustrate how locking in a profit should work…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that we need to stake £21.37 on Man Utd to win at Betfair.
Place £21.37 on Man Utd @ 1.60 = Potential profit of £12.82
Now let’s have a look at our overall potential profit for the possible outcomes…
So, regardless of the outcome, we would make a guaranteed profit of £12.26 on this Betway early payout offer!
If eligible, our cash winnings will be credited within minutes of the first goal being scored, but allow up to 24 hours.
* The match was drawn 0-0, resulting in a loss of £0.56 on this Betway offer. *

Guest userHey Matt. Never tried these ones before but might go for this one. Just curious, with United’s culture of conceding first, why wouldn’t you back Chelsea? There’s not an odds restriction is there? Are Chelsea’s back odds too low?
Still checking here several times a day – love your work.
Matt
1529Hi Michael, it’s great to hear you’re still enjoying the blog!
There’s no restriction on back odds, it’s simply personal preference. Feel free to back whichever team you fancy to score the first goal.
I tend to favour the team with the longer odds in the hope that they score first and then the other team come back into it.

Guest userAh that makes sense. I hope you didn’t mind my asking, it wasn’t a tribal football fan challenge, just wanted an insight to your rationale.
I think I’ll back Chelsea so then I’ll be safe in the knowledge that at least one of us is quids in if there’s a goal!
Thanks for taking the time to respond!
Matt
1529Haha no no, questions are good!
I think if you’re a football fan you probably have a personal preference, whereas if you don’t follow football you should just play the odds.
