The Cheltenham Festival 2020 gets underway on Tuesday and you don’t want to miss this Bethard Money Back Special! Simply place a bet on the 13:30 each day and if our horse finishes 2nd or 3rd, Bethard will refund our stake as a bonus, up to £20.00. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £70.00+ and here’s how…

- Only our first bet on each race qualifies for the promotion.

- If our horse finishes 2nd or 3rd, our stake will be refunded as a bonus, up to a maximum of £20.00.

Qualifying Bets:
This offer is available on the 13:30 each day as follows…
Race | Time | Date |
---|---|---|
Supreme Novices’ Hurdle | 13:30 | Tuesday 10th March 2020 |
Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle | 13:30 | Wednesday 11th March 2020 |
The Marsh Novices’ Chase | 13:30 | Thursday 12th March 2020 |
JCB Triumph Hurdle | 13:30 | Friday 13th March 2020 |
If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how it should be done.
It’s entirely up to you which horses you place your qualifying bets on.
At the time of writing, the lay odds aren’t quite tight enough, so I’ll use fictional lay odds for Asterion Forlonge (5/2) in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle (Tuesday) and I’ll update the table at the bottom of the post with some actual selections after each race.
At the time of writing, laying our bet at Betfair is likely to give us the smallest qualifying loss.
Betfair are currently offering new customers 0% commission up to £500 for the first 30 days.
If you’re an existing Betfair customer, you can opt in to pay just 2% commission by selecting their Basic reward plan.
For more information about My Betfair Rewards and how to opt in, please see my Betfair 2% Commission page.
We can work out our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £19.02…
Place £20.00 on Asterion Forlonge @ 3.50 = Potential profit of £50.00
Lay £19.02 on Asterion Forlonge @ 3.70 = Potential liability of £51.35
Outcomes:
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…
Outcome | Bookie | Exchange | Extracted | Profit/Loss |
---|---|---|---|---|
Asterion Forlonge wins | +£50.00 | -£51.35 | £1.35 loss | |
Asterion Forlonge finishes 2nd or 3rd | -£20.00 | +£18.63 | +£19.00 | £17.63 profit |
Asterion Forlonge finishes outside top 3 | -£20.00 | +£18.63 | £1.37 loss |
So, we would make a nice profit of £17.63 if Asterion Forlonge finishes 2nd or 3rd and we would stand to lose a maximum of £1.37 on any other outcome. Risking £1.37 to make a profit of £17.63 gives us effective odds of 13.87, which I’m sure you’ll agree, makes this a profitable offer in the long run.
With 4 eligible races across the 4 days, this gives us an overall potential profit of £70.00+ on this Bethard offer!
If eligible, bonuses will be credited by 15:00 on the day of the race and must be wagered once at odds of 1.50 (1/2) or greater within 7 days.
If you’re unsure how to extract £19.00 cash (95%) from a £20.00 bonus, check out my Bonus Rollover Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how it should be done.
I’ll update the following table with some actual selections after each race…
Race | Selection | Back Odds | Lay Odds | Profit/Loss |
---|---|---|---|---|
13:30 Tuesday | Abacadabras | 4.50 | 4.70 | +£17.84 |
13:30 Wednesday | Envoi Allen | 1.667 | 1.70 | -£0.55 |
13:30 Thursday | Faugheen | 4.333 | 4.50 | +£17.95 |
13:30 Friday | Goshen | 3.75 | 3.85 | -£0.82 |

0Hi Matt,
Trying to deposit £20 into Bethard and they keep saying that my deposit limit has been reached despite having hardly deposited any money, how do you rectify this, I need help.
Colin B
Matt
1533You should be able to see your deposit limits within your account settings Kerri.
James
Guest userSince you only have to rollover the bonus once, it’s ok to choose low odds for a low qualifying loss right?
Matt
1533Yes James, that’s correct. Just be sure to roll it over at odds of 1.50 (1/2) or greater.
Tom
Guest userDo you have to clear your existing balance before rolling over the bonus though?
Christine M
Guest userBets use cash balance before bonus balance, I have found after getting the bonus yesterday.
Wingman
Guest userNo you don’t Tom. When you place your next bet it will initially be placed out of cash, but when that bet settles (and the wagering requirement is met), you’ll receive the £20 into your account.
Simon G
Guest userI don’t see this offer in promotions. Assume it should show there?
Matt
1533Yes you should be seeing it there Simon.
