Correcting a messed up bet
-
Hi,
I made a boo boo, I placed my lay bet on the wrong match, I was placing a free bet on the Swansea City vs. Manchester City game on the 24th, but ended up laying the bet on the Swansea City vs. Manchester City being played on the 21st. I’ve now layed on the 24th game but need help understanding how to cancel out my bet on the 21st.
I bet against Swansea at 7.0, currently for Swansea to Win the odds are 6.2. If I place the same amount I bet against I’d be £15+ down if they win. Is there an easy way to fix this?
Thanks
Ben

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Just go on chat, explain your error and get them to void the bet.
+0Or keep putting a quid on the win until it all evens up at a small loss if they dont void it. Would a exchange void a matched lay Gilbs?
+0Just asked them if they would void it and they said they couldn’t because it’s already matched.
+0I think it’s a lay bet he’s talking about – they won’t void the bet if it’s been matched.
From what you’ve said, if you back @ 6.2 for £2.42 (i.e. £15 / 6.2) plus the amount of your original lay bet that should equalise your loss.
+0Thanks Blue, I haven’t managed to completely be free from loss due to the odds difference but got it down to a £3 loss what ever way it goes so I guess that’s the best I can do without waiting to see if back odds get better.
Against Swansea City : SWA vs. MAN £23.28 / 7
For Swansea City : SWA vs. MAN – £26.28 / 6.2+0Ah. So your precise potential loss was £18.62 rather than £15. In which case the calculation was £18.62 / 6.2 = £3 plus £23.28 = back bet of £26.28 to produce a loss of £3 win or lose.
Which is exactly what you’ve done, spot on!
You were not going to do any better unless you were prepared to risk a bigger loss waiting for the odds to change. 🙂
