Help needed: How to spot EW arbs
-
Hi All,
Bit of advice needed. I’m not new to MB. Know how to do all the offers etc, however I was wondering if there is any way to spot horses whos odds are going to shorten long before they do? Been trying to get the most out of extra place offers but can’t seem to spot the horses to get on, before their odds drop enough to make it a risk free shot/small profit arb. With goodwood tomorrow, it’s a perfect time to learn!

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

If we all knew which ones would definitely shorten we’d probably be trading instead!
What does often happen is the place part will shorten. Early place markets have big gaps, and for bad each way races eager people to lay their place part. Often the place part will come in late -but may not at Goodwood as there will be more liquidity and the place market should form earlier.
I suspect the problem is you’re looking at the standard midweek extra places, which in my opinion are pretty crap as you’d need to catch a shortening horse to get minimal qls. You can at times spot small likely price movements on weight of money, but you need to be used to how things work

Goodwood should provide plenty opportunity. With the extra place markets and some bookies going 1/4 odds you may well find you can get an each way arb and be on for the extra place.
