188 bet VPN

  • I have a £30 free bet with 188 that was meant to expire a few days ago but luckily hasn’t.

I’m currently abroad and using a VPN to sign in to my account.

In their terms it says winnings may be voided if they find evidence of you hiding your IP by e.g using a VPN.

How likely is this to happen?

I’m using PIA as my VPN if that helps.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I’d say it’s highly unlikely, but if you are really worried about it then punt it no lay so there is no risk (but obv no guaranteed profit) involved.

I’ve been using a VPN from Spain to access numerous bookies whilst away, including Bet365 for the National where I one of my bets won and I was able to withdraw without problem. Can’t speak for 188 though

Would I not be right in thinking that if you use a mobile, on a UK sim (roaming) then, you are not “abroad”? – different if you are connecting through WIFI

Also, is betting not legal in Spain? Ive bet on a pc there before (albeit to a UK bookie)

Betting is legal here but I think they have some different rules to the UK. I can only report my experience which is that without a VPN I can’t access any bookie sites. Their apps will not work even WITH a VPN. All of this is on wifi mind, so perhaps 3/4G roaming would be different but I don’t fancy the charges that go with data roaming tbh.

One of the local bars has a betting terminal that you can use, but there are no high street bookies etc… There is a local boozer called the ‘Racing Toast’ where I am told you can get a bet on but I don’t think the fella in the back does money back 2nd somehow!
