Any other students out there?

  • Just wondering if many on here are also students.. I only came across matched betting at the beginning of December, but have been making a decent amount and the hours aren’t a problem as im off weekends and nights.. also have you told flatmates/friends about it? I’ve decided to keep quiet for the mean time, but would be interested to hear about what others do 🙂

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I’m not a student. But on the other question. I tend to keep it to myself – first I think ppl wouldn’t believe me and maybe try to ship me off to gamblers anonymous. Second, if you aren’t strict and disciplined or if you get tempted into spending too much time and gambling more than just match betting – I wouldn’t want to be the one to send someone down that road.

yeah I agree FoG, I tried explaining to one person but they didn’t get it and just thought it was gambling so I haven’t brought it up to anyone since, and I wouldn’t want my housemates jeopardizing by signing up to the same address (I don’t mean to be selfish but don’t wanna get gubbed).. I also quite enjoy having it as a hobby/PT job and not having anyone know..

It’s not a concept that lends itself to being easily explained in person. It’s a significant enough hurdle to get people to understand the existence of betting exchanges and lay bets.

Also agree with FoG, you really don’t know someone else’s propensity towards gambling.

    Hi Acole,

Im a student too, only got into this late november, and because of one my friends at uni too the time to explain and show it to me (he doesnt live with me though so no conflicting IP addresses).

Ive been astonished how easy this is once you get the hang of it, althought I have made a few mistakes, I have managed to cover them so not lost anything drastic yet! Ive been gubbed from ladbr completely on friday, racebets yesterday, and PP a couple of weeks ago (although only the bet 20 get 10 offers). So im not sure how long the good profit making is going to last, im expecting to be gubbed from willhill, sky, and co.ral soon and that will make a huge dent!

I mentioned it to one of my friends over christmas who is at uni in reading, he started a week or two ago off his own back, and just texts me for advice sometimes.

@adam, there’s about 40 bookies out there with sign up bonuses (presuming you live in the UK, yes?) so you’re only at the good beginning man. 🙂

Another student here lads. I agree, it can be hard explaining to friends how it actually works. However managed to get my dad involved 🙂

Although this past week has been great, did my first WH acca, all 6 won.. layed of the last 3 tho (5 less than 1.25 and one @ 3), and got 3 2nd places friday and one saturday.. gotta love free money 😛

Yeah make the most of the signup offers, get all those done. I started last September and smashed all the signup offers which is a nice 2k. The money back 2nd place offers on saturday are always great for consistent profit too 🙂

@Dan87 Yeah i still have a load of the sign up offers to do 🙂 Just im finding the biggest profit coming from reload offers at the moment, particularly the horse racing 2nd places on saturdays. Been hitting ~£100 a saturday the past few weeks just from using willhill and ladbroke C4 offers, with a few PP offers too, but like I say now I have been gubbed by the ladbr. its going to hit that profit hard! Anyone know of any other bookies doing the C4 refund offers? Heard racebets were, but got gubbed from them after 3 bets on saturday, my account only lasted 2 hours haha!

I’m not a student (other than being a student of Matched Betting). I’m intending to keep my activities quiet. I’ve tried to explain to my partner how it works and she is convinced it’s a scam, no matter what I say or what I show her! I’m just about to begin my MB journey (waiting for card details) but I won’t go telling anyone outside MB circles when I start.
