Bet365 voiding bet due to "outcome already known or material advantage gained"
-
Has anyone ever had this message before?
I’m in the middle of completing the Bet365 mobile bonus and trying to complete my rollover requirement. As I result, I’ve been searching for close odds etc. I bet on a game today in-play after finding a dutch search for over/under 2.5 goals. I was on to make the grand total of about £3 regardless of the result but of course, I’m just doing the bet to get through the rollover. The game ended 1-0 (my Bet365 bet was for under 2.5). So…I’ve had my stake returned and I’ve lost £30 on the other bet for over 2.5 goals.

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Which bookie did you place your other bet with ?
+0What match was it? Was there something funny that happened, was the match maybe abandoned or something?
Was your in play bet very very close to the end of the match?
+0The other bet was with Betfair. To be fair, it was an unusual selection. It was the Brazilian league, in play about 40 mins in. The game wasn’t cancelled. It finished 1-0. It does look like the first goal went in shortly after I placed the bet, maybe 5 mins or so.
+0And you placed both bets at the same time?
If the “outcome was already known” to Bet365 you would imagine the same would be true for betfair. Either neither bet should stand or both bets should stand, in my opinion.
Might be worth checking if betfair can cancel the bet but how to explain that to them without making you look like a matched bettor!
Anyway, maybe someone else has an opinion, because my opinion is probably worth as much as your own.
It is an interesting situation.
I think its generally risky putting bets on in play in case a goal is scored between you get your back and lay on. But suppose its fine if you back Over 2.5 goals first, because then even if there is a goal it will just mean more generous odds for the under 2.5.
I would be 1) sticking to the main markets – you blend in more as a plain mug bettor. 2) put in play bets on at half time – more time to be careful and less risk of odds fluctuating.
You’ve lost 30 which you will make up easy on your next sign up, its just a blip.
+0Yeah both at the same time too.
Agreed, I do normally put in-play bets on at half time but I was just impatient this time round because the odds was close (small profit) which is rare for in-play in my experience.
I guess I’ve just been a bit greedy and like you say, should stick to the big leagues.
Lesson learnt (although still a bizarre situation!)
+0I saw this one as well, bet365 hadn’t realised the game had already started. I tried putting 50 quid on the HT result (when it was already HT) but not surprisingly they voided the bet.
+0In that case, surely it’s Bet365’s fault, not mine and they should honor the bet no?
Very long shot and I doubt ill get anywhere but I might take this on the chat and see what they say.

I see your point but you won’t get anywhere I’m afraid. They refunded your stake so you can’t really expect any more than that?
+0Inplay bet on the Brazilian league –>
**!! HELLO – I’M A MATCED BETTOR !!##**
get the bonus cleared as quick as you can, that account won’t last long. I always try to go for sensible stuff, anything on TV has way more bets placed so is a good place to hide!
+0Fair point guys. I’ll take it on the chin. Thanks for the advice. Bet365 is one bookies i definately want to keep! I doubt I’ll keep it long if I keep betting in play in the Brazilian leagues!!
