Betting without favourite

  • Quick question about this on Bet365. A horse is 3.5 odds ‘betting without favourite’ so does this mean it gets paid out whether it is 1st or 2nd no matter where the favourite finishes, or does the favourite need to come first and this horse 2nd?

I ask because laying the 3.5 odds horse from finishing in top 2 is 2.5 so potential profit to be made.

    Thanks

It means that it doesnt matter where the fav finishes, if your selection beats all the other horses its a winner. Its not the same as finishing top 2. The posibilities are a) your selection wins, b) the fav wins and your selection is 2nd. Your horse finishes 2nd to any other horse and your bet is a loser, so its clearly different from betting top 2.

Thanks for the reply. Thankfully after posting, and before I placed any such bets, I realised if my horse came 2nd to another horse I’d lose both back and lay bets 🙈
