New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

13:30
Yanworth @ Paddy Power x 2 (2 accounts)
Yorkhill @ William Hill x 2 (2 accounts)
Yorkhill @ Ladbrokes15:30
Sprinter Sacre @ Betfair
Un De Sceaux @ Paddy Power x 216:10
Josies Orders @ Paddy Power x 2
Josies Orders @ William Hill x 217:30
Ballyandy @ Betfair+0Hey guys! Super confused about horse betting but I don’t want to miss out on the week. I’m looking to bet on Paddypower for the 2nd place refund offer for the races tomorrow. Do you simply pick a horse that’s likely to come first or second, place a bet on it, then lay the bet in Betfair same as you would a football match? What if the horse doesn’t come in 2nd?
Probably stupid questions but I’ve been trailing the internet for two days to find horse racing specific instructions for matched betting and I can’t find anything!!! It seems like a whole different world than the straight forward football bets.
Any help is much appreciated!
PS I work during the days so can’t make bets right before the races start… I need to bet them the night before. Thanks!
+0Back and lay one for a low qualifier and hope it comes second for effectively enhanced odds.
+0Dont lay Paddy bets at Betfair
+0Chris – Why not lay the Paddy bet at Betfair?
Thanks for the link Steveo!
+0They’re the same company now, odds are you’ll get gubbed.
+0Courtez there is a whole entry on the blog which explains the process of matched betting in relation to second place money back and if you don’t know not to lay your paddy bets on betfair I suggest you do a lot more reading up on matched betting before you jump in a the deep end and lose some serious cash.
+0I suspected someone would tell me to do more research! 🙂 Hence why I’m reaching out to you guys rather than taking the risk. Looks like I have much more reading to do. I’ve only just started out on matched betting, completed less than 10 offers.. it’s just a shame I didn’t learn the ropes long before Cheltenham!
Thanks for your help anyway guys, glad you’ve saved me from losing serious cash!! Happy betting!
+0Appollobet MBS 2nd
Ballyandy at 9 and lay 8.6 in the 17:30+0‘Our automatic risk controls have rejected your bet.’ WTF?
+0Looking at Robbo strategy above am I right in saying that assuming you catch Ladbrokes at the non favourite the worst case you can be in is down £50 with two free bets from Sky and Ladbrokes for £38 and even at that it would be a pretty unlikely scenario.
+0Jwlodds why would you back Yorkhill at Ladbrokes? if he goes off Fav you would then not get the free bet? With the Lads offer your best just backing a complete outsider depending on odds of course.
+0I like the fact there are two strong favourites in 1:30 race and 2:10 race mean’s I got put 2 lots of £25 bets on each so £50 free bet if either comes 2nd hopefully one will!
+0“Offer applies to bets placed after 17:30 the day prior to the running of the qualifying race.”
