Just accidentally bid on the same match trying to use up multiple free bets…

  • …is this a problem? It seemed to go through OK both for the bet (Coral) and for the lay (Smarkets), both showing the same bet twice. But wondering if this is going to cause a problem, and if so what?

However if it IS OK, why wouldn’t that be common practise when trying to use up multiple bets (to place them all on the same match) simply to save having to find other matches with good free bet payout odds?

    That should be fine @sm0114.

I’m actually in the process of rewriting my matched betting guide and I’ve taken the approach of placing the free bets on the same selection. It’s a matter of personal preference really.

On one hand, it speeds things up, but on the other it depends on the size of a person’s bankroll and how comfortable they feel placing them all at once. It’s important to take things steady as a newbie.

That’s great to hear, thanks for confirming. I’ve found the majority of time spent so far has been finding the best selections to bet on, so if I can find one and place all free bets on that, it’ll save me a lot of time.

My related query then would be how to best handle the lay bet side. Would you place 4 separate lay bets, or combine into one? If as one, how would it be calculated?

If you’re placing your free bets on the same selection, you can just place one lay bet.

If you were placing 4 x £5 free bets on the same selection, you would simply enter £20 as your ‘Back stake’ on the calculator instead of £5. The calculator will then give you the correct lay stake for covering all 4 free bets.
