Problem is, how realistic is it to get 16 pounds from the 20 pound free bet on NFL games? The back and lay odds at higher numbers seem quite far apart.

Yeah, I agree with you. The pre-match ‘Money Line’ odds were all pretty low this weekend, making it tricky.
Hopefully, that will change as the season develops and it becomes clearer who the in-form teams are. We’ll hopefully see some much longer odds, which already appears to be the case looking ahead to next week’s games.
I’ll have a look at what’s available later in the week, but I’ll likely revise the free bet retention to 70% for NFL free bets.
