Lost Bet365…again!

  • Shame, especially with tonight. At least I managed to do the Grand National Offer.

Perhaps the fact i’m doing it off a 4g connection makes it more dodgy…heard of people abusing their football offer for months on end and not get gubbed. Think I managed one and i’m already gone…I would seriously love to know their criteria very frustrating!

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Yes Conner, I know people outside of this site who have opened accounts up in girlfriends/wives names and they’ve been gubbed very quickly.

Females definitely more interested in the fixed odds machines or games than straight forward betting – I know from experience (and what an expensive lesson that turned out to be)!!

Yeah the whole point is staying under their radar. I think unfortunately just having a female account where you’re betting on footie and racing (as opposed to betting on big brother, bingo etc lol) already puts you on the watch list. Just plain common sense

Conner, I think there is everything sexist about it. It is gender inequality if they treat male and female accounts differently based solely on gender.

Men are just more reckless on the roads as well but the law stops insurance companies offering females cheaper insurance just based on their gender.

I would challenge them on it if I had a chance, even just to get more information about the reason that they gubbed me. I think if you go in guns blazing about discrimination they can’t just hide behind “traders decision”. They should be shown to prove that the trader’s didn’t base their decision on your gender or race.

Of course though if you are a male using your wife’s account you can’t really say anything as they just caught you fair and square!

Missing the point a bit I think – they’re not gubbing ‘because’ it’s a female account, they are trying to root out match betters, and I think it’s safe to assume that the ratio of regular honest female punter accounts to female matched better accounts (where a guy is using it to multi-account or after a gubbing) is a lot higher than within male accounts.
If that is one indicator that is used to identify accounts abusing promos, there’s nothing sexist about it. It wouldn’t be the reason to gub, it would be a reason to keep an eye on it. We’re trying to blend in to the regular population of punters. Female accounts aren’t regular (one’s that bet on football and racing that is)

FoG I agree it’s gender inequality on the bookies part but I think that’s what they do because as Conner says it is pretty unusual for a female just to bet on sports and take up the various welcome offers.

When I first started gambling other than punts on the football team I support and maybe major sporting events such as The Grand National (where I’d simply pick a horse with a name I liked) all my money was spent/wasted on fixed odds games/slots and certainly amongst my social circle even that was pretty unusual.

It just seems to happen all too often with accounts under female names being closed v quickly when offers are taken up even when people have made it so that there is no way they can be linked

I don’t feel strongly about it at all to be honest.

But the point is if they add you to a watch list or gub list partially based on your gender then its clearly gender inequality. If the gender of you account in any way at all influences the treatment that you get then its against the law.

It would be similar to prioritising male applications for tickets to the world cup final.

I get that women are less likely to be big sports gamblers, I get that a lot of men use female accounts, and I get that its a good indicator for the gambling companies to track these accounts closely but I don’t think that they can do that by law? Maybe they come under different gender inequality rules than insurance companies? Maybe I don’t understand the intricacies of the law?

Right? I’m not being over the top here, am I?

I think it would be a good way to get through to them to explain in detail why accounts are gubbed so that you clearly can see that it has not been influenced by your gender.

Matched betting has become so popular there’s a shit-ton of women getting into it – I wouldn’t be surprised if over half (or a lot more than half) of all female sportsbook accounts are now matched betting accounts. Bookies know this – apart from betting activity – this is probably high up on their list of ‘indicators’ of the likelihood an account is being used just to abuse promos.
I agree with your point that on principle it’s sexist profiling. But in this case they’re not giving male accounts some kind of priority or providing more to male accounts. They’re trying to identify bonus abusers (or really accounts that are unprofitable) I think it’s well within their reasoning to use the sex of the account as one indicator of this (and then gub after other factors are taken into account like betting/bonus activity)
Don’t think it’s discrimination in the usual sense.

How could it be proven that’s what they’re doing though? Let’s face it companies do discriminate on a variety of things all the time under the radar and get away with it

Conner, I’ve been doing this for over a year now. Signed up to the usuals and got gubbed by the usuals . I know how much I’ve made to the pound. My girlfriend has been doing it for around 4 months. So far no gubbings. Doing every offer on the go. You may say thats against the norm and you may be right but in my case it’s certainly not ‘anecdotal’.

“in my case it’s certainly not ‘anecdotal’”
I said anecdotal meaning as in: based on personal experience – it’s your subjective evaluation… I suppose my assumption is ‘anectdotal’ as well because it’s not based on any concrete evidence – sure is common sense though imo…
Glad you’re gf’s account is safe though – must be doing something right.

But all she does is offers? Not a mug bet has been placed. This is what I can’t get my head around. I too had reservations when she opened accounts. I thought the same as you. Not quite the norm a woman betting £25 on over/under 2.5 goals! But hey ho here we still are. I tried everything to keep my accounts open but they fell like domino’s. I know the gubbings are coming but it’s a pleasant surprise they’ve lasted this long.

Ok well that is interesting… you sure she hasn’t being blowing £ on bingo behind your back? (just kidding) 🙂
To be honest, the more I read about gubbing conspiracy theory, the more and more confused I get. Some accounts seem to slip through the cracks long-term, some get closed after one bet. Who knows what the fuck they use to identify gubbing candidates…

After shifting over a thousand pounds into Bet365 this week, my account is finally fully gubbed(stake restriction) today.
I was banned from the £50 risk-free in-play a few months ago but didn’t get a stake restriction. I had since been bashing the crap out of their horse 4/1+ offer till today.
Surprised that it took them this long really.
