Matchbook

  • What are people’s experiences with this exchange? I’ve just got an account with them because of their 0% commission on horse racing on Sun-Tue but I read somewhere else that they charge you to withdraw if you don’t earn them enough commission. That being said their commission rate, including the tax, is 1.7% which still beats smarkets at 2%. What do people think?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Not bad really. Quite often liquidity is better than smarkets. Can’t leave bets in play tho’. Dont know if its a loyalty thing but gets 10 0r 20 free spins in casino at least once a week. Winnings from spins only have to be wager once. Usual amount to pennies but up about £40 in about 6 months. I’ll get a few withdrawals with that!

I signed up to them around a month ago to use as a back up for when Smarkets threw their usual wobbly on a Saturday afternoon.

I have found their liquidity decent and they often have better odds than Smarkets around 30-45 minutes before a race.

The days of the week with 0% commission are a nice bonus and they also have an opening offer where you get a refunded for every £5 of commission incurred (up to £50) in the first five weeks.

A couple of downsides though. They ask for photographic ID before allowing you to fund the account (although my account was opened within minutes of the information being e-mailed)
They also seem to take longer to settle the bets which can be a problem if you are wanting to use the tied up liability for the next race.

All in all though they seem pretty decent so far.

Matchbook charge commission on each bet, so you are paying their percentage on both winners AND losers?
So that’s a pretty big no no for me and explains their low rate!

Assuming equal odds, if you want to equalise the outcome win or lose then smarkets is the cheaper, unless you’re laying off high odds bets (>8ish). Of course there’s other things to take into account, like their withdrawal charges…
