Non Runner No Bet

  • How does this benefit us? When the horse doesn’t run do we still get our lay bet through is that voided?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Google it…would have got your answer 4 hours ago. All bets are voided doesn’t benefit you in anyway.

I kind of think that this was a fair question. All the bookie’s are advertising it like its something special, but as far as I know I have always gotten my bet voided for a non-runner so what’s the big deal?

    Read Betfair’s rules:

“Who will win this race? Dead heat rules apply. This is an ante post market. All bets stand run or not unless void under the Horseracing Rules and Regs or under the Betfair Terms and Conditions. Please be aware that in some Antepost markets it is possible for more horses to be declared than the field safety limit allows and as such this market may have balloted out horses. Bets on such horses will be void.”

So all bets stand, run or not. So maybe your lay wouldn’t be cancelled.

And looking at smarkets a whole bunch of the antepost horses are already marked as loser (not void).

So does it benefit us? Can we back a horse and if he doesn’t run we still get our stake back, but keep the loser’s stake on the exchange? If he runs and wins/loses then we just have our qualifying loss. Trick would be to pick a horse likely not to run… ?

Thanks for stating the obvious Ryan. If Google had provided me with an answer that clarifies things it’s unlikely I would have asked the question on here. Jeez.

The knowledgeable people on MSE are claiming you win the lay (both betfair and smarkets) in such a case, because it’s antepost I assume? I don’t have experience, worth looking into and quick.

Still don’t know if you can do anything with it.

I notice Annie Power is listed in both Champions Hurdle AND Mares Hurdle on Day 1. Assume she wont run in both so back and lay her in both races then you will keep one of the lays for sure.

But the back/lay odds are terrible.

In Champs Hurdle you can back and lay for 2.5/3.7 which is a pretty big qualifying loss BUT the Mares Hurdle the back and lay is 1.67/14.0. So crazy.

So looking at exchange I’m pretty sure that ppl dont think she is going to run in the Mare’s hurdle, but to turn that info into profit looks like impossible.

So the people on MSE had actually experienced this Dekoder?

I would leave it alone. The back/lay odds are not very tight anyway. I think you would need to be an expert on field safety limits, balloted out horses etc.

You wouldn’t want end up getting stuck paying out 13/1 on an odds on favourite here ……

Non Runner No Bet only applies to antepost markets. If you place a lay on an antepost market (on betfair or smarkets) and the horse doesn’t run, your lay wins.

The lay odds on the Mares Hurdle are so big because she’s not expected to run in that race. Don’t think looking for horses that are listed in two races is the way to go with this offer. Better strategy seems to be finding multiple arbs/narbs and hope some will be non-runners.

Checked some of the odds, I don’t see anything in this. The antepost odds on the exchange are huge and the bookies odds are tiny.

If placed on antepost market the lay bet would win.

However there maybe deductions depending on how many witndrawals there are. If your horse was the 1st to be withdrawn no deduction, but there would be for subsequent witndrawals

Edit : I did not see Mark’s reply.

Given the champion hurdle and mares hurdle are about 40 minutes apart I’d like to see Annie Power trying to run in both?

Nr no bet is a good offer and nearly all firms are offering this now. Lots of people bet ante post for cheltenham as u normally get bigger prices months before but run the risk of losing your money if a non runner. A lot of people had there fingers burnt with faugheen being a non runner. Lots of people had backed it months before at juicy prices.
