Racebets – odds changing
-
This has happened me 3 times in a row now. I place a bet on a horse and the website thinks for 20 seconds, and then comes back with “the odds have changed do you want to place the bet at odds of xx”.
I can understand bookie’s changing odds from time to time and sometimes you click in just as they are being changed. But this seems to be targeted against me. THREE times in a row. Every horse I back.
Are they on to me. This is a joke.

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

They see you as the man FOG! The one who as soon as he bets they realise he is an expert so therefore they slash the odds when you bet!
+0I read (I think on another forum) that this company does this fairly often. In particular when you sign up, if you reject their changed odds three times you are instantly gubbed (I am not joking about this, I think the thread is on the MSE forum) even before you start betting with them.
I know bookies have to make a living and all that but this company sounds like a real joke of an outfit if this behavior is common practice.
+0Well I rejected the odds three times because they were crap so will see if they gub me.
They finally let me get a bet on anyway.
It would be disappointing because I’m not even through the initial deposit rollover. Hope they don’t take that off me.
+0@ Foggy, I just found the thread over on the MSE site I mentioned above. Its on page 5 of their MB forum titled “Gubbed before putting a single bet on”.
Here are the first few postings on that thread.
Post 1
“I opened an account at Racebets, deposited £50 and tried to put a bet on. Twice I tried and the odds had changed so I went for a different selection. On the third time of picking something, a bet refused message came up. Live chat confirmed that I had been gubbed without putting a bet on. I hadn’t even taken their sign up offer!Obviously they go by their standard “we can’t reveal why” stance when I asked on what grounds I’d been gubbed, but I found it worrying. Does this mean my name/address has been blacklisted? Is MB finished for me?”

“Happened to me too. Racebets is famous for it.”Post 3
Me too, exactly the same. I think it is most likely because you declined reduced odds twice – exactly as I did.
They most probably offer all new customers reduced odds when they try to put their 1st bet on and if declined twice then presume you must be seeking value and hence not the sort of customer they want betting on fixed odds.
I withdrew my £50 btw without even placing a single bet.+0Thanks Dave. I’ll cross my fingers and hope I get through the rollover and then withdraw my cash and never go near them again.
+0Account not eligible for fixed odds bets
Dear Me,
We regret to inform you that our Trading Department has limited fixed odds bets on your RaceBets account, as per their Risk Management Policy.
You may still be able to take full advantage of SP bets from race tracks all over the world including the UK and Ireland, depending on the traders’ discretion, in which case you will be notified via pop up when placing bets.
Unfortunately, as a result of this decision, future promotions and offers have also been limited. However, if you have not already claimed your Welcome Bonus, you MAY still qualify, although please bear in mind that bonus wagering requirements would need to be met with bets being placed at SP and with odds of 1.50 or above.
Any current bonuses will not be affected,
May we also point out that as per our terms:
“11.9. The granting of a bonus is entirely at the discretion of RaceBets. ”
Please understand that we cannot state the reasons on an individual basis and also cannot reply to any enquiries made in this matter.
Kindly note that this decision is final.
The Very Best of Luck!
RaceBets.com+0Fog this bookie are notorious for gubbing people midway through the sign up offer, an absolute joke company probably the worst bookie there is. I didnt have the issue of prices changing, they let me place 5 bets then i didnt get the free bet. Got the gubbing email instead.

Alright I’m done with them now anyway. Rollover complete and funds withdrawn.
I joined two weekends ago and deposited the £50. Got on an 9/1 with my first bet for an e/w arbs that weekend. Didn’t touch them for a week and then had a go at their extra place races at Ayr this weekend. To work through the rest of the rollover I started backing and laying short favs at very tight prices in the morning at £20 a go at early prices, gambling on getting some BOG.
I qualified for their “beat the bookie” game and I beat them (!) and got a £10 free bet but I was gubbed before I could claim it.
This morning trying to back horses 3 in a row they lowered the price when I tried to back it, then I got one on and then 2 in a row again they kept lowering the price – I took one at the lower price to placate them but it didn’t work. Got the email within seconds.
The Cherry on the top for me was I didn’t bother laying my last bet (was only allowed SP so didn’t know what price to lay at) and Darrington went and won.
Anyway that is my story. I like to share so others can understand what actions cause you to be gubbed and can try and avoid.
+0I wonder if u can sneak under their radar by placing 3 low value bets at the start and just accepting their revised odds.
