Risk Free Bets

  • When doing risk free bets do you still lay your qualifying bet – as you are getting a free bet if you loose and winnings if your bet wins

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

you can either just back and lay your qualifying bet and hope it loses or underlay in such a way to guarantee a profit either way.

After reading through several times about risk free bets I don’t understand about the 80% return and what you put in cash back

Luton as I said on the other thread you started, you are just not cut out for matchbetting.

After you said you have spent many years reading about MB and then come on hear asking the questions you are, there is no hope for you.

My 3 year old grand daughter has a better understanding than yourself.

Again sorry for the abrupt reply, but really.

If you have come on here as a troll and are trying to wind people up with your supposed stupidity, congratulations you have succeeded.

80% is the amount you will actually get out of the offer because if your bet loses you will be given a free bet which is Stake not returned rather than actual cash.

please also read MY comment above. 80% is the amount you are able to extract. sometimes it might be 77% or 83% so 80% is a good average to work to.

Hi I’ve picked a risk free bet on dafabet
It might be the best example but just wanted to see if I’m on the right path
I’ve got palace to beat man Utd

Back bet stake £25 back odds 5.50 cash back £20 commission £0.00

    Lay bet 6.2 commission 2%

If back bet wins bookie £112.50 , exchange 98.87, cash back £0.00
    Total £13.63

If lay wins bookie -£25.00, exchange £18.63, cash back £20 , total £13.63

Am I even close or completely wrong

    yes thats right.
you should be able to get a better match closer to the game or better still try and find a match at slightly higher odds. (if you have the float)

use the calculator and have a look at the profit if you enter 6.5/7.2 or 7.5/8.2

2p difference at 7.2 lay odds – no real difference, no 🙂

You should be finding more closely matched (and ideally higher) odds to use free bets on though. 6/7.2 is not great and you are giving up a fair bit of profit there.

If you could have found a 10/11 match then you would be making £16.07 profit instead of just £13.65. It all adds up over time 😉

Ok thanks but would I have to have a bigger float -I’m keeping my float to around £100

It also depends what your strategy is:

If you are going for a smash and grab approach, taking up every available offer and not mug betting then you need to be getting maximum value before your accounts get gubbed; or

On the other hand, if you are trying to keep your accounts going for longer by being more selective about the offers you take up, concentrating only on ‘popular’ markets and are not withdrawing cash and mug betting in between offers, then choosing bets with bigger gaps between the bet and lay odds for each free bet would be a contributing factor in making you look less like a match bettor – in theory, you would then be able to complete more offers over a longer period of time so that eventually the smaller profits begin to build up to the levels attained in the other approach.
