Rule 4 deduction – advise needed

  • Hi,
Hope someone who are familiar with this can help…
I placed a bet on Bet 365 feature 4/1|+ race on Grandad’s NewMarket 3.20 race yesterday at odd of 5. But I haven’t lay the horse yet in Exchange.

This morning I noticed that the horse “Partick” (at odd of 7) was pulled out.

I chatted with the customer service, the bet is still eligible to the feature 4/1+ promotion. So, I don’t want to cash out the bet.

Looking at the official scale of deductions that apply when a runner is withdrawn, there is a 10p deduction in winning. So, If I want to work out the lay back, I should put “4.6” instead of “5” as the back odd in the calculator when working out the lay stake? Is my calculation below correct?

    Calculation:
Initial bet is at odd of 5*£50
Take 10% of winning of £200, my new winning if horse win is £180
So the new back odd is (£180/50)+1=4.6

Any help is much appreciated…Thanks in advance…

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

    Hi Rose

Your back odds are now 4.6 as you say as the returns including stake are £230.

However, I dont think you’re eligible for the offer as per the terms:

The 4/1 limit refers to the adjusted odds after any dead-heat, Rule 4 or unnamed joint/co-favourite. If your risk free bet is an Each-Way selection that is placed, and the return on the bet is less than the total stake, we will refund the difference between your return and the total stake. If your return is greater than the total stake then no refund will be given.

Unfortunately live chat on the majority of bookies dont ever have the first clue on what they are talking about. If your horse does win, I would not risk assuming you have a risk free bet for the next race as that wouldnt agree with the term I just pasted.

Yeah, i agree. Someone mentioned this happened to them the other day, and they didn’t get the risk free bet. Better to lay it off for a couple of quid loss if possible, rather than cashing out for a fiver loss. I’d advise against doing horses on this offer so far in advance if their odds are close to 5.0.

Not sure what would happen if Granddad now drifted to 5.0+, but that evidently isn’t going to happen in this instance.

You can lay Grandad’s World now for 3.9 so hopefully you’ve got out of this one ok

Hi, Thanks all who had replied.
Noted all the advice for future bets.
Managed to lay at 4. So, a few quids of profit at the end.
