Skybet odds change
-
So fairly new to this, i had a £10 free bet from Skybet so backed the Liverpool/Tottenham draw/draw at 7 and layed it at 7 on Smarkets. Was going to get about £8.30 profit from it.
Five minutes before the game starts I get a warning from Skybet saying odds have changed to 6 and do I accept or decline, I pressed decline hoping it would keep the odds at 7 but it just cancelled the free bet. So I had to back it at 6 as I already have it layed.
Is there no way of keeping the odds i backed it at or was it because it was a free bet?
Obviously I’ve laid too much now so do i just hope I lose with the bookies?
Thanks

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I suppose I could back the draw/draw at a £1 on betfair exchange at 16s to cover?
+0It’s always best to back 1st that way if the odds change suddenly, you can then recalculate the lay stake. Only once you see that the back bet has been confirmed u then lay.
+0I’m sure it had been confirmed, it popped up about a minute after. Have you ever known that to happen? If not then maybe I didn’t check but sure it had.
Would you back any more for the draw draw or just hope it loses which touch wood it is doing.
+0Clayton,
Please stop before you damage your wealth and your health+0It sounds like the original bet has just been sitting in the betslip without being confirmed. Sometimes (depends on your settings) you have to Place a bet and Confirm it. Maybe you did one but not the other?
No bookie can/would change the odds after the bet has been accepted, unless it’s an obvious (palpable) error.
+0Yeh must have just been a tad careless, no harm done as the bet lost but a good reminder to concentrate!
Thanks

@ claytonp90 when you first start MBing its very easy to make these kinds of mistakes. Reading about MBing is not the same as actually doing it. You will find however that as you progress then you will make a lot less mistakes. One thing you do have to guard against though is complacency, you can sometimes think you have got it all sussed. Lose concentration and end up making the kinds of mistakes you made when you first started. Fortunately when this happens you will have made a fair bit of money already and so a loss due to a silly mistake doesn’t seem quite so bad as it will not make much of a dent to your overall profits.
+0Just put it down to part of the learning curve Clayton,Most people make mistakes when starting out i’m sure.
Obviously apart from people who put comments like this- “Please stop before you damage your wealth and your health”(see above)
Or,like this comment I got yesterday “Awful boost…you can back at 7/1 to just win the Gold Cup!! Wish people would FACT CHECK before posting here”.Most people on here know who that know it all is.+0Haha so far my wealth and health are ok thankfully!
Cheers for the replies.
+0Biscuit boy,
I am only giving advice to protect him.
I see people in here all the time whining about MASSIVE ROLLOVERS. People need to do some research and take it one step at a time.
As for the ‘thistlecrack’ boost, was good seeing as its 5/1 now!GLA
+0Thank you pbettsy boy for your kind words,I never did the Thistlecrack boost in the end,Went out & didn’t bother.
Cheers+0Thanks for the advice, although I definitely haven’t just wandered it and started betting without taking a lot on board first.
I know the risks involved if I do make mistakes, this one was just careless.
No harm done thankfully.
