Skybet tennis retirement rules
-
been some talk on the forums about tennis retirement rules. Seems sky have updated theirs. Sounds good too.
“You cannot lose if a player retires after the first set
How often have you, as a punter, been stitched up by a mid-match tennis retirement? Painful isn’t it?
Well from now on it will be double delight for Sky Bet customers with no-one losing money due to an unfinished match – a bookmaking industry first.
We are introducing a new settlement rule which means that if there is a retirement after the first set has been completed, we will pay out on the winner and void bets on the loser.
If the retirement occurs in the first set, bets on both players will be voided – as has been the case in the past.
Here’s an example:
You put £10 on Federer to beat Nadal at 2/1. The first set is completed and in the second set, Federer retires through injury.
With other bookmakers* – You lose £10.
With Sky Bet – You are refunded your £10.
*As of 26/05/2016, Betfair, Paddy Power, Bet365, William Hill & Ladbrokes follow these player retirement rules. Sky Bet are the only bookmaker to offer a refund after the first set if your player retires and pay out as a winner if the opponent retires.
This new rule will be actioned from Wednesday May 26th just in time for this year’s biggest tennis tournaments so click here to place your tennis bets, knowing you can’t lose if a player retires during a match.
