Smarkets Trade Out – Novice Help
-
Hi, was using Smarkets to lay horse and messed up the lay calculation not by much but thought I would correct it.
So Backed Horse @ 6.5 for £10
Initial Lay @ 6.6 for £10So in true match betting if the horse won I would lose £1 or if it lost £0 I would prefer it was an even split as I should have done the calc for 6.5/6.6 with 0% commision so a -0.16 or -.15
I decide to use trade out and bought £10.34 @ 6.4 so a few pence up.
I repurchased 9.85 @ 6.6 as originally intendedI am correct in thinking this will all tie up nicely in the same way it would have if I had done it correctly at the time?
Horse still with bookies £10 6.5
Smarkets
Sell 19.85 liability £111 @ 6.6
Buy 10.31 @ 6.4Think this sounds like a trading type thing?

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Ps if it is correct, does that mean I could use this trade out to ensure smaller QLs? I often lay when it is something like 5.0/5.4 and invariably the lay plummets to below 5.
Does this trade out mean I can nab a small profit and relay with a smaller QL?+0You won’t always see the lay odds drop. Sometime (quite alot) they go up. You may find youself with a larger qual loss then.
PS. I haven’t checked your sums but I think you understand things correctly.
+1Appreciate the response Sam. Yes appreciate I could stuff it up and have more QL. I also wanted to delete my 2nd comment about nabbing a small profit, as I realised I am trying to make the QL smaller or zero not to do some gambling. It just feels sometimes that when I choose a horse it then plummets in the lay department 🙂
