Smarkets

  • Just joined and deposited and intend on using them today…

Any pros and cons I need to look out for?… How are the markets in comparison to Betfair?

Wasn’t too thrilled they don’t have an app as I mostly use iOS but gonna give them a whirl

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I still haven’t used them yet. They are next on my list after 365. Let us know how you get on

Will do mate, looks pretty basic and no frills which may not be a bad thing speed wise… I’ll review it tomorrow… Apparently supposed to have a £10 bonus on losses but that isn’t displaying anywhere so we’ll see…

I use them all the while as only 2% commission and really simple to use. Downsides are the limited markets in comparison to bet fair and I find I struggle to get a connection to lay a bet from my phone even though I am connected to wi-Fi. Most of the time I find I have to use my laptop or PC to lay bets without connection issues. This maybe a problem only I have though so give it a whirl!

Fairly disappointing liquidity and markets generally – commission lower but no comparison generally to the big guys at Betfair!

The layout is a bit less refined than Betfair but other than that, it’s a good site. Handy too as Paddy Power and Betfair are linked so with Smarkets, it’s handier to Lay there just in case PP pick up on your accounts Match Betting if you use a PP/Betfair combo.

Also, I took a random punt at a horse when I first signed up knowing I’d get my tenner back anyway if Lost. Ended up with 90 quid as it won! Handy start.

They do have an app, for Android at least. Don’t use iOS though so not sure about for that.

I like them and use them most of the time. Their odds usually mirror BF, I mean actually identical most of the time – look at them side by side. But 2% commission rather than 5% so they’re usually the better bet. Lower liquidity generally though so I go betfair if needed.
Interface is not the nicest, too basic and doesn’t utilise the space available on the screen well so you can’t see many odds at once.

Still my go to due to the low commission though, with fall back as BF.

Right guys I’m also having lukans issue of not being able to connect on my iPhone… Works will my kindle but for me the inaccessibility on iOS will be a deal breaker!… I’ve layed off for one of tonight’s games and I’ll await the result and then withdraw… Liquidity is v.poor in comparison to Betfair, markets vastly inferior, no freestanding app… so for me the only plus is the 2% commission… In the short term for me atleast I’ll stick with Betfair and monitor how the site grows an improves

I find if I have problems betting on iphone, I just close the bet, refresh the page, and try again. It works every time.

I use Smarkets all the time but I do most of my activity on a laptop rather than my iPhone so it’s not a major concern for me. I do, however, agree than an iOS app is a necessity for Smarkets moving forward and I’d be very surprised if they’re not in the process of developing such a thing. I’ll let you know if I hear of any developments…

Got my £10 refund and currently have just shy of £100 in there… trying to give it an extended trial and see how it goes… still a little frustrated by the limited markets but I’m sure the more business that goes their way the better the liquidity and markets will become!… still finding it essential to have both smarkets and betfair for the time being

Would be good if you could ask, Matt? They have been saying that they are developing one for a while now whenever they are asked on Twitter, but nothing ever seems to come of it.

Nice to see you posting on the forum too 😉

Totally agree, Tony S – there is no way I could go Smarkets only. They simply don’t offer enough markets to take advantage of many, many bookie offers (i.e. match result & BTTS, or match result & over/under 2.5…)

Incidentally, has anyone noticed a disparity between Smarkets and Betfair odds of late? As far as I was aware they basically mirrored the prices Betfair offered, but lately (e.g. last night on the Leicester v Chelsea game) their in play prices were significantly different – to the point that arb opportunties were present.

I am not floated-up to trade at the levels you would need to to make it worthwhile, but it’s another interesting option for those that are.

started out with Smarkets but after getting the hang off match betting switched straight to bet fair as everyone has mentioned loads more markets etc. You can also cash out which is always good!
