Do you promote matched betting to people as a whole or do you prefer to keep it to yourself?
I’ve told my immediate family how good it is but I’m wary about shouting it from the roof tops to everybody.
One worry I have is will the bubble that is matched betting eventually burst!

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I think that bubble burst a long time ago mate. When i started around 10 years ago the offers were crazy and reloads 2-3 times a week from all the big bookies. The bookies didnt even know it was happening
But now so many people have got into it that they made the offers much more complex. Before it was stright back and lay offers for a freebet. Now its accumulators, 4,5,6 places, refund if offers.
I wouldnt worry about it, i tell loads of people i do it. Ive even sat down people and explained it but most of them just can’t be bothered with it or the fear of it still being gambling puts them off.
I don’t think it will completely die because the bookies still need our money to keep alive but the gubbings come out much quicker now than they did before!
+0Ive tried fairly hard to get some friends to do it. As a student, MB has been perfect (flexible hours etc) and has given me a good amount of disposable income where most students have scraps
I’d only promote it in person to people who I think have a knack for numbers and attention to detail, and preferably people who follow sport. Get a bit worried that someone will jump in “on my advice” and actually lose money on some of those SUB rollovers
+0Most of my friends and family don’t understand it, think I have just been lucky so far and am quite likely to lose all that I have made so far and more. Although match betting is not that difficult, it does take some effort to get your head around the concept when you first start.
Lots of people don’t know what a betting exchange is and do not realise its possible to lay a bet.
I agree with the comment re the bubble burst a long time ago. I have only been doing this about 18 months now, perhaps a bit longer, and in that time the offers have deteriorated.
Its still possible to make good money, but it takes more effort than it used to.
+0Yep totally agree with the above. I started about 18 months ago and it was constant offers. Ladbrokes and sky now I would say are the only bookies worthwhile and maybe Betfred now and again.
When ever I try to explain, for instance you back Man Utd with the bookie and them lay them to not to win on the exchange. People every time say to me, so if the game is a draw you lose with the bookie and the exchange.
Never mind and concentrate ploughing 20s on your 4/1 horses. That’s my reply.
+0I don’t think telling a few more people would make any difference. There are so many sheeple now who just blindly follow whatever the matched betting service they are signed up to tells them to do that bookies must easily spot when suddenly loads of low value accounts all start betting on the same selection on an event that they’ve never even touched before.
+0I told one of my best friends about it who is a classic mug punter – he has no concept of value and just thinks if a bet wins then it must have been a good bet and he’s always doing 10 team football accumulators and the like. He didn’t get it at all, I’ve had a hard enough time explaining to friends what laying means, nevermind the concept of matched betting. They were completely flummoxed in April when I cheered a late equaliser for Swansea at Old Trafford as they had seen me back Man Utd earlier! Of course, it was merely a qualifying bet but the concept was just too complicated for them to understand.
I don’t mention it to anyone now but hearing their tales of near misses – “That late goal cost me £50!” and “I knew they’d let me down” etc – makes me feel so glad I found out about this as not long ago I was almost doing the same thing.
