whats the difference between gubbing and restricted?

  • question based on bet365 restricting my betting due to over use of the 4/1 0ffers

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Gubbing usually means you can’t receive any promotions, including things like Best Odds Guaranteed. Restricting refers to reducing the stake size you’re allowed, or always referring your bets for review by the traders.

bet365 typically allow you to keep receiving promotions, but restrict your bets – I can get about £5 on horses over 5/1, and £10 or less on other odds.

    this was my email:
Should you wish to continue to use our services, the Sports offers and promotions available to you will be restricted to the following standard offers which remain open to all customers: Channel 4/1 Offer, Feature Race 4/1 Offer, Sky Dogs 2/1 Offer, Australian Feature Meeting Offer, Best Odds Guaranteed Plus, Racing Value, Aussie Footy Multi Bet Bonus, Bore Draw Money Back, Euro Soccer Bonus, Parlay Bonus, Euro Basketball Bonus, Tennis Accumulator Bonus, Each-Way First Goalscorers and Extra Time Extra Chance

When I tried to put a £50 bet on the 4/1 offer (which says above is open to me) I was restricted to £5

The offer is open to you, but your bets are restricted. So, if your £5 bet wins, you’ll get a risk-free £5 bet on the next feature race. The wording also implies that any “non-standard” promotions, including the lucrative £50 in-play ones, are no longer available to you. I hope you made a load of money caning the 4/1 offer before they gubbed you?

Right old gubbing weekend, hadn’t lost an account for a few months but bet365 and bet Victor gone this weekend, when I saw someone else mention they had the winner in the first ch4 4/1 bet365 race yesterday I knew it was coming and sure enough it did despite losing £300 on the next 6 races!! Matched betting career coming to an end after 9 months, almost 5.5k tucked away though so can’t complain. Not sure about mug betting either as did loads on bet365 but didn’t stop it, hey ho.

Bet365 were very strange with me – I got an email saying they were giving me £10 as a customer loyalty bonus – then about an hour after the gubbing email ……….???

I had the exact same email from bet365 but the timing was strange. Came about a month after any activity which was a mug bet on a non-offer selection
