The Masters 2020 tees off on Thursday and you don’t want to miss this Betway early payout offer! Simply place a pre-tournament Outright Winner bet and if the player you back is the leader at the end of Round 1, Betway will pay you out as a winner. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £178.81 and here’s how…
Key Terms:
- Maximum stake is £20.00.
- Qualifying bets must be placed pre-tournament on the Outright Winner market.
- Only our first qualifying bet will count towards this offer.
- If our player is the leader at the end of Round 1, Betway will pay us out as a winner.
- Dead Heat rules apply for joint/co round leaders.
- Winnings will be credited as cash within 24 hours of the tournament finishing.
- The tournament tees off at around 12:00 (GMT) on Thursday 12th November 2020 and is due to finish on Sunday 15th November 2020.
Qualifying Bet:
Early payout offers have been incredibly popular for a while now. If you’d like more information about them and how they work, please see my Early Payout Offers (2UP) guide.
It’s entirely up to you which player you go for. Outright Winner odds in golf can be quite long so you may need to go with a smaller stake than £20.00 if your bankroll is stretched.
Having looked at the odds available, we could place a qualifying bet on Bryson Dechambeau.
At the time of writing, laying our bet at Betfair gives us the smallest qualifying loss.
Betfair are currently offering new customers 0% commission up to £500 for the first 30 days.
If you’re an existing Betfair customer, you can opt in to pay just 2% commission by selecting their Basic reward plan.
For more information about My Betfair Rewards and how to opt in, please see my Betfair 2% Commission page.
We can calculate our lay stakes using my Early Payout Calculator…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £19.19…
Place £20.00 on Bryson Dechambeau @ 9.00 = Potential profit of £160.00
Lay £19.19 on Bryson Dechambeau @ 9.40 = Potential liability of £161.20
No Early Payout:
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss if there’s no early payout…
Outcome | Bookie | Exchange | Profit/Loss |
---|---|---|---|
Dechambeau wins | + £160.00 | – £161.20 | £1.20 loss |
Dechambeau doesn’t win | – £20.00 | + £18.81 | £1.19 loss |
So, worst case scenario, we’ll lose a maximum of £1.20 in qualifying for this offer.
Early Payout!
If Bryson Dechambeau is the leader at the end of Round 1, we need to select the early payout toggle (in the grey section) to tell the calculator that ‘The bookmaker has paid out early‘…
As you can see, our potential profit/loss is as follows, now that Betway have paid out early…
Outcome | Bookie | Exchange | Profit/Loss |
---|---|---|---|
Dechambeau wins | + £160.00 | – £161.20 | £1.20 loss |
Dechambeau doesn’t win | + £160.00 | + £18.81 | £178.81 profit |
So, if we let things runs and Dechambeau goes on to win, we’ll still lose £1.20, but if Dechambeau doesn’t win, we’ll make a profit of £178.81!
Lock in Profit:
If we decide to lock in a profit, we’ll need to enter the back odds for Bryson Dechambeau to win at Betfair. I’ll use back odds of 2.00 to illustrate how locking in a profit should work…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that we need to stake £90.19 on Bryson Dechambeau to win at Betfair.
Now let’s have a look at our overall potential profit for the possible outcomes…
Outcome | Bookie | Exchange | Profit/Loss |
---|---|---|---|
Dechambeau wins | + £160.00 | – £71.01 | £88.99 profit |
Dechambeau doesn’t win | + £160.00 | – £71.00 | £89.00 profit |
So, regardless of the outcome, we would make a guaranteed profit of £88.99!
With early payout offers, we’ll make a small loss the majority of the time, but when the early payout is triggered, the returns can be very nice indeed.
* Bryson Dechambeau failed to lead after the first round and failed to win the tournament, resulting in a loss of £1.19 on this Betway offer. *

Guest userOooh I’d love this one to come off!

514The first round can be a bit of a lottery but you never know. Good luck!

Guest userWhen I try to bet the £20 on betway I get a message saying “Your stake exceeds the maximum bet amount allowed”. I can only bet £4.47. Any idea why?
Wingman
Guest userYeah – bad news I’m afraid – you’ve most likely been gubbed.
Occasionally you’ll get maximum stake restrictions when betting on early markets and the like, but in this case it sounds more like they’ve clamped down on you.
Karl
Guest userDoes this work for gubbed accounts as its not a free bet, just an early payout.
Matt
514I wouldn’t have thought you would be eligible Karl as it’s still a promotion and something they would need to credit your account with.

Guest userManaged to pick one of the joint leaders. I see Betway dead heat rules apply. Wondering how Betway settle this, do they wait until the tournament finishes and if he doesn’t win then they pay as a 3 way tie? I guess just let it ride.. (-:
Matt
514Yes I believe that’s correct. They’ll pay out in cash within 24 hours of the tournament ending.
If your player doesn’t win the tournament, your stake will be divided by 3 and paid out at full odds.
You have the option of locking in a profit by backing your player to win outright, though you may prefer to let it run and hope they come up short.

Guest userHi, I backed Dustin Johnson, so I’m a bit confused cos it’s my first outright thing and first golf and dead heat thing.
I got £20 on Dustin at 9.00
Layed £18 at 10.00
Dead heat so 1/3
I worked out I will make £60 profit, hopefully that’s right.
If he wins > -£2
If he loses > +£60 at Betway and +£18 at Smarkets = £78
I lock in with…
If he wins > 180 – 178 + 8.80 (@ 6.80) = 49
If he loses > 60 + 18 – 8.8 = 70
I know I make no sense, I’m just as confused.
Matt
514Hi Viran,
Your stake of £20.00 would be divided by 3, so £6.67 at 8/1, gives a profit of £53.33, rather than £60.00.
So, as things stand…
If he wins, you win £160.00 at Betway and lose £162.00 at Smarkets for a loss of £2.00.
If he loses, you win £53.33 at Betway, plus £18.00 at Smarkets for a profit of £71.33.
If you want to lock in a profit, you simply add your £71.33 potential profit and your £2.00 potential loss together and divide by the back odds for Dustin Johnson to win. That will give you your additional back stake.
£71.33 + £2.00 = £73.33
£73.33 / 6.00 (Betway) = £12.22 (back stake)
Johnson wins > + £160.00 – £162.00 + £61.10 = £59.10 profit
Johnson doesn’t win > + £53.33 + £18.00 – £12.22 = £59.11 profit
Hope that helps Viran!
