Anybody betting on EU referendum?

  • I know this forum is about “risk free” betting, but I’m wondering if anyone is betting on this market?

Personally, I’m lumping a rather sizeable chunk on a ‘Bremain’ outcome.

Firstly, the betting exchanges are usually very reliable indicators on political events. The last general election being the only notable exception.
Secondly, as someone wanting to buy a house in the SE in the next couple of years I’m hoping for a correction in the house market. I’m hoping a brexit would be a driver in this. In a way, I see this as a risk free bet. Should it lose, I would lose short term but *hopefully* gain long term.

    Any thoughts?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Starlord – I like your thinking. How much are you betting on it?

Around one month’s MB profit. Another reason why I can justify a potential loss as it’s playing with ‘free money’ lol

@1.3 I’d say that was a good bet. I’ve been heavily involved in this debate and all recent polls have shifted towards the momentum of remain as has the concensus to remain in my view. The coverage on this referendum by the BBC and alike has been so bias towards remain that I’m almost certain this is going to happen. Even though personally I’m voting to leave myself lol.

It’s a tricky one though because it’s difficult to predict the demographics of the official vote and if polls are going to be wrong I would say there would be more chance with this than a GE. Question is how many people that are going to actually vote would have done a poll too… I know I didn’t. Just my opinion of course. But sticking a grand on for 300 profit is tempting I must say.. You could marginally offset it with the Tonybet promotion too.

Friend of a friend had £5000 on remain. His coffee will taste a little bitter this morning.

I put 100 on exit at 8.50 last night so nice win but will lose long term. Kid in New Zealand and work for a Spanish company ?

New Zealand fx rate has gone from 2.1 to 1,9 in last few hours

Thankfully I cashed out on Betfair lastnight just after 10pm at 1.07 but with most profit weighted heavily on a Remain outcome

I actually went to bed regretting the decision but got nervous by the numbers. Very happy this morning lol

That’s good to hear Starlord. And you should still get that bargain house you were looking for. I put 72 quid on remain @1.30 and did the tony bet 20 quid on leave @4.6. So ended up breaking even. I was thinking about lumping something big but just couldn’t do it. I’m glad i didn’t…

I had 300 quid on remain at 1.7. Annoying really because I could very very easily have put fuck all on leave to make it matched, but I truly, truly did not envisage leave even being a possibility. If it was Barcelona vs Luton Town I’d have matched it, but I genuinely could not see anything other than remain, particularly with the odds going to 1.1 or such on the day. Just insane! It’s a good lesson for me anyway, but just stupid that I didn’t match it in any shape to begin with! Hindsight, eh.
