However putting 25EW on top 5 then laying 10 on win and 5 on place makes things interesting.
Mate of mine has just done 12.5 EW on horses 1-10. I’m almost tempted to just do the same but on horse card numbers 11-20

£697.31 if 5th which would be very nice, but I won’t get my hopes up for a 5th finish AGAIN. I’ll be very annoyed if Holywell finishes 5th as I was about to do that one but the lay odds were slightly in favour of Shutthefrontdoor.

Robbo – Use the calculator posted at the start of the thread and lay on the ‘to place’ market as well as the ‘to win’ market (the calculator tells you how much for each). Not sure how or if you could use the each way market

Bit confused here. shutthefrontdoors odds are 17.0 so I put this into Anto’s calculator.
It then says Back Place Odds are 4.2.
17.0 is 16/1, quarter odds are 4/1 which equals 5.0, not 4.2. Where am I going wrong?

Simon I doubt it…but then again the 5th place is just an extra bonus it is very very unlikely lets be honest. I’m just happy with the easy £70 to be honest!! Grinningbeast..not sure what you’ve done wrong the calculator works perfect for me…odds of 17 & 1/4 terms comes out at 5 as it should.

4.2 is 1/5 terms you might have clicked that by accident…refresh it?

I was being a numpty – I had put 1/5 for the 5 places not 1/4 for the quarter odds.
Really undecided about when to place these bets. The matches on smarkets are really way out.
+0I’m a bit confused about whether I need to lay on both the ‘to win’ and ‘to place’ market if I want to spread my bets across different horses and guarantee a profit. E.g £25 e/w on 5 different horses.
I’ve read that a few people say that we only need to lay on the horse with the biggest liability on the ‘to win’ market and then lay on each horse on the ‘to place’ market as normal.
There doesn’t seem to be a definitive answer so was just after some guidance.

Maybe do it very early tomorrow morning if not do it now..I probably could have got more than £72 profit, in fact I know I could. Pretty sure the lay odds on the place etc will tighten up but is it really worth me waiting and rushing around tomorrow for a few more quid…I don’t think so.

It’s more the funds needed in smarkets Ryan. I’m hoping the lay odds for the favourite come in a bit. Betting on a 17/19 horse requires a hell of a lot in the exchange. And as I type thats now drifted to 17/19.5
