  • Hi All,

The Bet365 offer has landed! Simply you cannot afford to miss this offer!

In preparation, knowing this was likely to drop, I’ve built us an “extra place” calculator that will do all the crazy maths for you to save you having to do it!

It can be found here: https://www.antodev.com/extraplace

Lets hit 5th place again guys!

    Cheers
    Anto

I’ve just accepted the lays as they are so I can go to bed. Covered six horses with lays up down and everywhere. I’ve ensured I’m not losing any money, but it’s going to be fun to unpick it all once the race is over. C’mon Aachen!

splitting it into 5 and have 3 done so far for a guaranteed £42ish

going to do 2 more tomorrow, want to get many clouds done or i’ll be gutted if he comes 5th and i didnt follow the blog!

might underlay the place slightly on many clouds and the remaining horse if its one of the favourites

Just use the calculator linked in the first post on this thread.

set back stake to 25 and cashback to 25
    E/W to 1/4

fill in your back and lay odds as you find them along with the place lay odds, it will then tell you what values you need to lay

I understand most of the methods people have gone for so far but still undecided what to do. This might be a stupid question, I know RyanB likes stupid questions 🙂 but I’m sure on Betfair when looking earlier there was no ‘each way’ option which is now showing next to ‘place’. It says terms are 1/4 odds, 4 places. Could this not be used instead of placing separate win and place bets?

If it can could it be that the odds are more favourable this way? and if so what calculation would be needed?

Sorry if it’s been there all the time or already mentioned but don’t recall seeing it before.

I’m concerned about some folk over on the main blog. Some of the questions they’re asking. ?.They see the big profit and think I’m having that but I don’t think they should be touching a bet of this magnitude if they’re new to the game. There will be winners and losers I fear.

chappers- some big losses coming and some jammy big wins due to flukey results and not laying correctly

Was thinking the same kjillman. There will be about 300 posts by race time ?

I agree the lay odds are poor if this was a normal 2nd place free bet offer but for this offer they are fine. Guaranteeing a profit of around £70, which isn’t too hard, seems decent.

It’s frightening, too many putting blind faith before basic comprehension of standard betting practice.
Playing this easy, with £50 each way on both Shutthefrontdoor and Saint Are, guaranteeing about £28 each, plus bonus if fifth. Will do another one in the morning, even if odds are poor can get a profit.

Superb calculator Anto, cheers for that!

Managed to get on 5 horses for £60 guaranteed and about £180 for a 5th place boom.

I had a quick go through some horses this morning and the best is Goonyella I think. Guaranteed returns of around £70 , and around £820 for 5th place. This is if you lay down the full £250 on bet365. At the moment there isn’t enough to lay though so may need to wait.

Trying to figure out this 5 horses scenario. If anyone could help it would be great. My understanding is that if I place 5 E/W bets of 25 quid, I only need to lay off the win part of each bet. For 5 bets this should result in a (rather hefty) qualifying loss of about 20 quid.

The EW portion is refunded, so I am essentially getting a free shot at 5*25 EW bets? With 40 horses running, there is a very good chance I will hit no places, and lose 20 quid from this. But, just one place will put me in the money, and 2 or more places would give hefty profits. Is this correct?

I do not have the liability to do the full amount Matts way, although I could do half of the stake and make about 25 quid on current prices. So, it all comes down to the chances of just one out of five horses placing. I’m not the best at assessing this kind of stuff, are the odds in my favour or not taking the 5 horses option?
