Ok so I’ve done the following:
B365 : E/W on Goonyella £250 (total) at 21.00
Lay Goonyella to win £114.23 at 23.00
Lay Goonyella to place £98.24 at 7.6Guaranteed return of £83.91 , potential return of £833.91 for 5th place.
Is this correct?

For anyone who didn’t lay the e/w, the lay odds for places are looking great now if you want to guarantee something.

That sounds right to me Griffin. Done similar on Goonyella but for a 7.4 for place, similar return, but place odds have now drifted. If in doubt put figures into the excellent calculator at the foot of this post. The obvious caveat being the large amount of liability at the exchange, plus 3K needed.
Seems to be more movement on lay odds now at Smarkets but still fairly out on whats on offer at 365.

Got £50 e/w on Saint Are at 19/22 and 5.5/6.2 Couldnt afford the whole £125 ew on one horse, so if its right I dont need any more liquidity in Smarkets if I bet on two more horses at odds under 19, then I can wait for a couple more decent matches before midday.
+0How do I guarantee profits on backing 5 horses? At the moment, I have just laid the win portion of each 25 E/W bet. Is there a way to ensure profit in case none of my selections place?

Yes dangerzone. You just match the place part of each horse now. So lay them to place the same way you laid to win.
You’re right it’s like a free shot at the place so you can take the free shot or lay for guaranteed profit.
Does that make sense?
If you do 5 horses it’s still exactly as blogged by Matt but do it 5 times and read 25 instead of 125 and 50 instead of 250.

My liability has also dropped from 2020 to 1965…same with the place lay
