In preparation, knowing this was likely to drop, I’ve built us an “extra place” calculator that will do all the crazy maths for you to save you having to do it!

Lets hit 5th place again guys!

    Cheers

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Pavlon I’m not sure if I worked it out right as it was my first attempt but I have this:

    B365: £250 (£125 E/W) on Goonyella at 21.00
    Lay stake to win : £114.07 @ 22.4215 = Liability of £2,443.63
    Lay stake to place : £98.93 @ 7.4 = Liability of £633.30

I might have worked it out Ryan , I don’t know but I’ll check once the race is over.

I dont know mine yet because smarkets is so bad. Got plenty of other racing and football to keep busy with in the meantime though.

Nice one Griffin, hurts me to say that to a Bristol City fan.

matchedem…people who are gubbed and restricted I highly doubt they are able to claim the refund? could be wrong but it doesn’t make sense to me. You’ve done all the bets so they will pay? you are guessing that you aren’t even sure, really wouldn’t surprise me that since your account is gubbed they don’t pay you the refund = Big loss to you FACT.]

I really wouldn’t have done this offer if i was gubbed…as if they don’t pay you the £125 refund you are down quite a bit…

In general, any horse withdrawing shouldn’t come into effect with reductions for the National – so many runners (low % of book to begin with) and there are reserves…!

Chris – doesn’t this offer end at midday today?

Correct ends Midday…but obviously you can lay whenever you want..just need to put your bet365 bets on before midday.

Griffin – plugging that into Anto’s excellent spreadsheet suggests you’ll get £64 for a win or place and £814 for 5th. That said, you’ve underlayed them, so not entirely sure what you’d get in the four scenarios.

It looks like Smarkets is really struggling to cope with the load. The updates to the volume are lacklustre and probably don’t fully reflect what’s going on in their datacentre.

Unfortunately this means that punters (if they’re seeing what I’m seeing) aren’t getting the best picture of the market right now. Looking at Betfair, there’s lot more liquidity and more importantly appears more stable when compared to Smarkets.

I mean, look at this: https://imgur.com/Q0stDjj

£345 at the current back price?! (It’s been stuck at this value for 3-4 mins).

…and only £47 at 10.5! I know this is wrong because my lay of £95 is sitting there waiting to be matched.

    All very frustrating.

Pavlon , do you have a link to the spreadsheet please? Originally when I did the bets I had a guaranteed profit of £83.91 but with the horse dropping out things have changed around and I’ve just left it
