Betfair Euros Cash Race Vs Smarkets lower commission

  • Anybody have an opinion on this

I currently use Smarkets but could use Betfair exchange

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I guess by using Betfair instead of Smarkets you’d essentially be paying 3% of every bet (because of the % difference between BF and S) just to be ‘in with a chance’. Haven’t looked completely into it, but that’s what it sounds like at first glance.

Having looked at the rules, looks like definitely not worth switching at all

Last two days I’ve paid over £40 commission to smarkets. If I’d been using betfair that would be £100 so safe to say I use smarkets whenever I can.

I saw the following comments in a betfred price boost post yesterday… It really baffles me how people who are experienced can have a viewpoint like this.

Will : how come you’re laying on BF not smarkets, the odds were the same when I did the boost and obviously BF’s commission is higher?

Kjillman: Lay where you like Will, I prefer betfair better markets and you can cash out etc.used to use smarkets but moved to betfair after about a month…

    My response to this

Firstly, The fact that betfair has more markets does not mean you should be laying price boosts on there in preference of smarkets. That’s obviously throwing your profit down the toilet for no good reason…

Secondly, the fact that betfair has a ‘cashout’ option is not in anyway an advantage over smarkets either because if you need to cash out on smarkets you can effectively just back/lay the opposing outcome on smarkets and this would most probably be a cheaper way to cash out because betfair are essentially doing the same thing on your behalf at a cost to you i would imagine… So why would anyone need cashout?

Moral of the story… Only use betfair when nowhere else covers the market you are betting on. Simple

IMO 5% is a greedy business model and so is they’re loyalty program. Do you have any idea what you would need to spend on betfair to get your commission down to 2% and maintain it…. A great deal i assure you. And you get that as standard on smarkets

it’s a NO BRAINER and any offer isn’t going to make up for that.
